Firstly, let's take a look at what mammal is-
- A mammal is a warm-blooded vertebrate that nourishes their young ones with milk secreted by mammary gland, have the skin usually covered with hair (or fur).
- A type of animal that feeds milk to its young ones and that usually has hair or fur covering most of its skin.
- It is derived from the latin word "MAMMAL" which means "BREAST".
The characteristics of a mammal includes
Mammary gland (the female)
Hair (or fur)
Middle ear bones
Sweat glands
Temperature regulation (warm-blooded)
NOTE: Some of these characteristics are found in some other classes but we have two unique characteristics of mammals which areMammary gland

People once thought Bats were birds without feather. Isn't that funny, birds without feather. But to be plane, bats are mammals because they have the following characteristics of a mammal
- They are nurse their babies with milk
- They have hair (or fur)
- *** They are warm-blooded.***
Bats spreads their wings and fly like a bird but are mammals

Oh wow! That's pretty interesting, but it sounds so logical! Still, I'm not a big fan of bats, don't need them in my house or attacking me, but they are interesting creatures for sure :)
