Every day I will post a new word, its meaning, and examples. ( Cada día voy a publicar una nueva palabra, su significado, y ejemplos )

Spanish word of the day 9-4-17 (#2)...

Ajetreado (adjective) "ah-hay-tra-ah-do"

  1. General Term
    a. Busy
    • The next day was like any other in the office, extremely busy. ( El día siguiente fue un día normal de oficina, sumamente ajetreado. )
    • The paramedics had a very busy night. ( Los paramédicos tuvieron una noche muy ajetreada. )
    • I've had a very busy day. ( He tenido un día muy ajetreado )
      b. Hectic
    • With this hectic pace of life, there isn't any time to reflect. ( Con este ritmo de vida ajetreado no hay tiempo para reflexionar. )
      c. Bustling
    • Our family went away to live in the country, far from the bustling city. ( Nuestra familia se fue a vivir al campo, lejos de la ajetreada ciudad. )

Examples:

  • This has been such a busy day! I just want to sit back and unwind. ( Ha sido un día tan ajetreado! Solo quiero sentarme y relajarme. )
  • It was a slightly hectic month. ( Ha sido un mes un tanto ajetreado. )
  • The most modern laws are not a guarantee of success in one day in the life of a busy passenger. ( En todo caso, ni siquiera la más moderna de las leyes puede garantizar que le salga redondo el día al ajetreado pasajero. )
  • The document before us covers a busy, and in many ways difficult, period. ( El documento que tenemos ante nosotros abarca un período ajetreado, y difícil en muchos sentidos. )

Bonus Word

A Fuego Lento (Phrase) "a fu-a-go len-to"

  1. General Phrase
    a. Over a low heat
    • Peel the chicken breast and cook it in a pan over a low heat. ( Pela la pechuga de pollo y cocínala en una sartén a fuego lento. )
      b. On low heat
    • The recipe says you've got to cook the sauce on low heat. ( La receta dice que hay que cocinar la salsa a fuego lento. )

Examples

  • And I said Aramis, with his soft, melodius voice, remember that I will roast you at a slow fire, like a savage. ( Y yo continuó Aramis con su voz dulce y melodiosa, piensa que te quemo a fuego lento, como un salvaje. )
  • While the Middle East burns, Latin America simmers. ( Mientras el Oriente Medio arde, América Latina hierve a fuego lento. )
  • I placed my hand upon the glowing muzzle, and as I held them up my own fingers smouldered and gleamed in the darkness. ( Toqué con la mano el hocico luminoso y al apartar los dedos vi que brillaban en la oscuridad, como si ardieran a fuego lento. )
