"BUKO"

Here in the Philippines, we call this fruit - "Buko" or in plain english Coconut. In other languages around the country, "Butong (Visayan)","Niyog (tagalog)", and "Lubi".

Last January 26th, we took the fruit of our grown coconut trees (and we only have two). These trees have been providing us fresh, healthy coconuts every time we need it. We would just pour in condensed milk on the coconut juice depending on our preference with or without it and it's already so good to eat.

Filipinos have grown to love coconuts. We have a lot of uses for coconuts from food, shampoo, facial care and ornaments. Be it ripe or too old, it is still very useful. They say coconuts are "man's most useful tree" and even "tree of life". It's meat is usually used for salads, halo-halo, pastries and sweets. Growing coconut farms in the Philippines is very common in the country.

I am proud to say that Philippines is the 2nd largest producer of coconut products. It is undeniable that Philippine coconuts tastes delicious and sweet. Drinking the juice itself has many benefits and below are the following:

  • Prevents kidney stone formation or UTI
  • Lowers blood sugar levels
  • Regulates Blood Pressure
  • Aids in hydration
  • Aids in digestion
  • Helps in weight loss or prevents obesity
  • Immunity problems
  • Bone weakness
  • Yeast infection
  • Cancer prevention
  • Pinworms
  • Gall bladder illnesses
  • Relieves stress

those are just some of it's many benefits. So, if you are not from Philippines, you really need to visit our country. Just give it a try. These are just one of the things you need to look forward to - a freshly picked coconut. Fresh from the tree.

Let me know if you have learned something from this blog.
