Today's experiment is the rainbow in a jar experiment! I think that this experiment is a fun way to entertain kids while also teaching them about density on a lazy and boring day. If you want to know more about this experiment then keep scrolling down!
What you'll need:
- Mason jar
- Water
- Dropper
- Food colouring of your choice
- Dish was liquid
- Corn syrup
- Rubbing alcohol
- Bowls for mixing
- Honey
What to do:
- First pour the honey and make sure it doesn't touch the sides of the mason jar.
- If you have some blue or green dish wash soap, mix that with a bit of water and add that on top of the honey.
- Now, in a bowl, add some corn syrup and a couple of drops of any colour of food colouring then add it into the jar.
- In a bowl, add half a cup of water and a different colour of food colouring and mix it well before adding it into the jar.
- Next, add a generous amount of olive oil.
- In a bowl, mix rubbing alcohol and food colouring. Then use a dropper to put it in the jar. Make sure that you add it in along side the jar and not the middle like the others.
- Next, enjoy your master piece! You can use it as a decoration in your room or anywhere in the house!
Tip:
Make sure that while you're adding these things into the jar that you pour it in the middle of the jar and make sure that it doesn't touch the sides.
