The next morning, his father came to sit on his bed, when he was waking up. He had a map with him to explain to Luan how the sea changes so that he would understand when they get to the cape point and showed him where the Indian Ocean was, and where the Atlantic Ocean was.
Morning Luan, I want to tell you something. You have seen that the sea is a very big place. Now I want to tell you, that the sea has different names in other places. The ocean has different names in different parts of the world.
Ok son so finish up and let us get going, your mother said she will bring you something to eat here in your room while you dress, and then you can just brush your teeth. Luan jumped out of bed, quickly made his bed, ate his breakfast that his mother had brought him and brushed his teeth. He ran to where they were drinking their coffee and said. I am ready when you are.
They had just finished up and got everything into the car that they wanted to take with them.
They left early as the traffic can become a problem and it would take them to long to get there. When they reached cape point they told Luan, that this was the point where South Africa stopped.
They climbed out of the car and started walking towards the Flying Dutchman. It is a mode of transport that makes it easier for people to reach the lighthouse where you can see the whole of the peninsula. There are two cars that take at least 40 people up in 3 minutes. This does save a lot of time and a lot of walking.
Today we are going to the show where the two oceans meet, the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Indian Ocean in the east. First we are going to Cape Point, this is where the warm water meet the cold water of the two oceans. Some people think this is where it splits, but actually it is at Cape Aghulas is where they actually split. Cape Point, is the most southern tip of the peninsula, and marks the south western tip of the Africa continent.
This is where the warmer water mix with the colder water but it is not actually where they split. They split at Cape Aghulas and it is interesting to see the furthest point of South Africa.
They climbed out of the car and started walking towards the Flying Dutchman. It is a mode of transport that makes it easier for people to reach the lighthouse where you can see the whole of the peninsula. There are two cars that take at least 40 people up in 3 minutes.
We will go to the light house in the Flying Dutchman and go and see what it looks like at from up there it must show the ships where the rocks are and this is a very nice spot to see far over the sea. When they got to the lighthouse Luan looked out over this wonderful sea that he so enjoyed and he knew already what his father had told him about the oceans changing here, into colder water.
You will see your first lighthouse today, it is a warning for ships not to come to near as they can run onto the rocks.
Just a little walk away, there is an older lighthouse that has this direction pole that show all the different places from this old lighthouse.
We will have lunch there, and then we will carry on to an ostrich farm if it gets to late we will go tomorrow.
They will see if there is enough time to go the ostrich farm, if not we will go there tomorrow. We have so many places to go too and we still want to go and swim in the sea as well.
So today we can go back have a wonderful swim and tomorrow we will go to the Ostrich farm.
