Hi there! This is the second episode of a series I call “Steemit Nuggets”. Today, I will be sharing some free tools that can help newbies like myself and you improve our experience on steemit and the web in general.
We all love free things, don’t we? It’s good to equip ourselves with the right resources at the very beginning of our journey for a better chance of achieving our goals effectively and efficiently. There are lots of resources out there that were developed as a free and open source project to support people and businesses.
I decided to pick out the following that I’m currently using and share with you;
Photography
These are free tools that can help you get free beautiful stock photos, image optimization and graphic design works.
- Canva: Canva is for those of us that are not Graphic Designers. It’s a simple graphic design tool that can help us in designing banners, posters, Invitation Cards, Cover Photos and Blog featured photos. I used Canva to design the photo seen above. It’s very easy, simple and effective, give it a try.
- Unsplash: You can get High Resolution Stock photos on Unsplash for free. Unsplash Photos are shared by a community of photographers so you can also create an account to share your photos.
- Pixabay:Pixabay is an alternative option to Unsplash. There are about a million of free beautiful photos and videos. All the photos and videos are licensed under Creative Commons CCO, so you’re allowed to use it without asking anyone for permission but it is advisable to give credit to the artist.
- Image Optimizer: Image Optimizer is a tool that can help minimize the size of your images. Some photos that you find on Unsplash or Pixabay are of High Resolution and size you can use minimize them using image optimizer.
Writing/Blogging
- Grammarly: Grammarly is a free tool that helps you write effectively and mistake-free. It scans your write-up like posts and comments for grammatical and spelling errors and gives you an explanation on how to fix it. I did a post on how to integrate it on a computer here.
- Pocket: This is an effective tool you can use to save articles, journals and other resources online and access them offline and across your devices with a click of a button. Sometimes you want to read a particular post but you don’t have time at the moment, you can save it on Pocket: and read it later.
- Recite: Recite is a free tool that can help you make quotes or text into beautiful images.
Utopian-io
If you wish to contribute to Utopian-io platform these tools can help you out.
- Freelogodesign.org: This is a website where you can design a logo for free. If you are not a graphic design and wish to contribute to suggestion and graphics category you can use these tool.
- Nibbler: Nibbler is a free tool that you can use to test open source projects/websites for accessibility, compliance with standards, errors and lots more. You can then contribute your findings to suggestion category in Utopian-io platform.
Steemit
- Steemworld.org: This is a very powerful and effective tool built by @steemchiller to manage your steemit account. It gives you the ability to manage your activities, followers, payouts, voting power and lots more, though it's in beta. Visit https://www.steemworld.org/@your-username just replace “@your-username” with your steemit username and see wonders.
- Wallet Investor: This is tool to check for current price of SBD/Steem in the market. You can also use it to convert from crypto to another, analyze the market and lots more.
