Today, I wanted to talk about the tradition that we often do here in the Philippines during New Years, which is having 12 round fruits in our home for luck and good fortune, well in some, other people wear clothes with polka dots because the polka dots are also round. You might be wondering why is it 12 fruits? Well, simply each fruit represents months as well, so that is why it is 12. Well for me, those fruits really bring luck! Why? Because those fruits carry so many healthy benefits for our body! Heres an image of my 1fruits in my home for tonight’s New Year’s Eve.
So as you can see, I don’t have 12 type of fruits here, but I have some round ones so I guess it will suffice? 😂. Okay! Let me tell you how Nutritious these fruits are! #healthiswealth
Apples! 🍎 - well, apples are famous for the tag lines “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away!” You know why? Because apples are rich in many antioxidants such as flavonoids. Apples help reduce the risk of Hypertension & Heart diseases. And thats not all! Here are some other benefits of apples:
- Apples have Vitamin C so they are good for the skin.
- they have minerals, like calcium & potassium.
- apples have B- complex vitamins that helps the nervous system to be healthy.
Lemons, 🍋 - lemons are known because it is very nourishing, it has vitamin C, Zinc, Iron, Magnesium & so much more, so that is why we often see water bottle containing water with lemons soaked inside.
lemons are great in treating throat infections because of its anti- bacterial properties.
when lemon is mixed with honey, it does not only help aid in treating throat infections, it also helps make the skin glowing.
Pears! 🍐 - Pears are really refreshing to eat! They help in improving digestion because it has fiber.
pears also contain vitamin C, K & B6 .
pears also have flavonoids which are great antioxidants.
Chico! - the chico fruit is rich in copper, magnesium & antioxidants.
Watermelons! 🍉- well, watermelons are mostly made up of water. But even if it is mostly water, watermelons are still packe with vitamins! A & C, plus, they have lycopene & amino acids too!
- it is great for the heart because it has lycopene so it may reduce the risk of heart diseases.
- Hydration! As said earlier, watermelons are mostly made up of water so they are really refreshing to eat!
Guava! - Guava is a source of Vitamin A! Which is good for eye health & it also helps in eliminating Diarrhea.
Lastly, Papaya! - papaya is rich in carotene, flavonoids & vitamins B & C.
- papayas are also good for the skin.
- they may also help in improving digestion as well.
Thats the list! So I don’t have 12 fruits and some of them aren’t that round either but still, their benefits are really healthy and the benefits of these fruits alone are one of the best good fortunes out there for me, because these fruits are really healthy!
