Steemitcharity.com Crowd Fund For Website Development

in #steemitcharity8 years ago (edited)

So we need your help there's somethings were going to need make:

Post verification page that shows a post has been verified with proof of the charity or cause.
Page to verify charity posts so that the community knows if said user is trusted or been vetted.
Back admin panel for people involved with the project to be able to post with out giving post details.

Meaning if a bad egg desires to spam we can instantly retract their access to our profile.

Img's so people can place a verified image or button in their post leading them to a verified page on the site.
Earnings tracker for total earnings, monthly earnings and more.
Featured page where we feature other charity posts and people who have helped with the development if site .
Web Hosting for a year and the other small addon's that might be needed.

A little bit why this website needs to be a thing, as steemit starts to grow there will be more charity posts and it will be very hard to keep track if everyone is earning money not for their own person gain. So we plan to keep track of this process and have community leader which we have already started to recruit. We welcome all to join us at https://steemit.chat/channel/steemit-charity this room has been made specifically for the things we will be doing.

We have created these channels on steemit.chat:

https://steemit.chat/channel/steemit-charity this is for our group and projects
https://steemit.chat/channel/charity-posts this is for the public to in about their posts
https://steemit.chat/channel/charity-post-abuse to report people you feel are abusing charity

Finical pledges to help fund the site will be listed as supporters of the site.

Were currently in the need of about $2500 to build this site so for this to help we need to make at least $5000. if were currently just basing this off upvotes alone. So if you can help it would really go a long way.

Were also looking for people who would be willing to help us out. What are we looking for?:

People to find charities online that might seem like a good idea for future posts.
People who verify if the person who is doing a charity post has been verified.
Developers for the website for upkeep and need features or advise in general.

Current pledges:

So if you would like to donate to the project you can do so below or with an upvote.

If you have any question about this please do not hesitate to bring it up.

Can you expand on what/who the "$2500-$5000" actually goes towards ?
That's a huge chunk of money straight off the bat that could have gone to the charities - making this a net negative of $5000 out of their pockets.

I'm sorry to be negative .. but surely I'm not the only person seeing this issue.

Well 5000 would be if it was upvoted, since half of what was made would go into power which isn't really usable. The full amount need is $2500 for development, hosting, graphical design those who seen we have actively trying to get people to help s out for free and people are just not having it people want financial incentives to do anything it seems. If we were able to find people interested it would be much cheaper.

But we need a secure system, this system would help monitor steemit to make sure people aren't scamming which in the long run will save a lot more money they is being requested. I have explained the needs in the post of whats being made sure we could just use spread sheets and everything else but for this to be done right so there is full transparency for any charity events including our own to share all details with the community and to be verified.

Also a place you can check the page and it will tell you if said post or person has been verified so people can be liable for theft. Just because its not a problem now if its nipped in the butt and has some place users can trust it would make it a whole lot easier. This isn't our first time doing something for charity we have well over +2500 hours that can be verified that no wrong doing has ever taking place. So in short terms this project is to make sure all money promised is hitting their pockets from this network.

I didn't mean to seem so harsh.. I have been thinking about these issues for a while and trying to organise donations for a few causes now already..

A few things that may be relevant here:

I've been working on a tool called steemface to cross-verify account ownership between steem and facebook that has similar features to what you describe - it could be extended to include verification by other means..

I've also been running @steemleak, donating to wikileaks via donations like you're proposing - made a simple website and reporting system and auto convert to btc via @shapeshiftio .. Its not pretty yet, but the idea was to work towards making a turnkey solution for charities to reproduce their news updates on steem from fb/twitter/rss and automatically do reporting and conversion without technical knowledge..

This was a long term project though keeping in mind that I'm sorta stuck handling @steemleak for at least 2 years for free :P

If the community decides to support this project then I'm happy to donate any relevant code and tools I make for free. I'm just in it for the karma :)

Well for one we would like to thank you for even asking the questions that needed to be asked. It shows people in the community are aware there is room for abuse and hopefully we can all make sure it is kept to a minimum. Because we can't stop it all. But thank you for the posts we will be checking it out for sure. If we run into any coding issues or need any help we will let you know thank you for offering. You can join us on steemit.chat if you like our room is in the post if you would like to keep up with what were doing.

I'll join the rooms, and keep an eye on the project - I AM happy to see more charity efforts I'm just scared of the abusing ruining trust for everyone. Good luck with everything I'll be watching :)

I also immediately grasp the importance of the security measures against gaming the system, and red-flagging potential abusers. Giving away money naturally attracts scammers. The other thing is, like you say, it does take some money to set up a secure system, and the big plus about running it through Steem is that anyone can see who is getting what, and they can also double check, if they are inclined to do so.

It's funny also, I have a situation myself, where I need a fairly big whack of change to break through administrative cost boundaries to get my residency permission. But most of that money only needs to be in my account long enough to do the paperwork, and once they give me the permission, I can get the ID card and I have 1 year of being a proper Bulgarian Long Term Resident. The money can go directly back to the donor. And with that ID card, banks will give me a loan. I don't need a huge one to then cover the cost of getting the no-job-advance-rent-payment lease agreement and pay that back as well. The point is that then I am in a position to offer hosting services directly out of my residence for witness or miner systems. I can't do that in my current location.

i can give some help for python and json stuff, count me in :) and i know plenty of solid security theory, i have been reading ... what's his name, the blowfish guy... security is very important to me.

Thanks @l0k1 looking forward to seeing more of you.

I'll vote for charity.

Well thank your for your contribution.

Thank you everyone who has been helping out so far with the upvotes. Please share with your friends if you can.
