Steemit can be compared to other social media platforms in terms of growing your following. The same principle apply here on Steemit that apply elsewhere.
But first, I am trying something new for this post. This post is basically a transcript of the video below. So you can scroll down and watch the 4 min video or you can quickly read the post. The choice is yours.
You need to engage with your following. If they post a comment you need to reply to their comments. If a follower mentions you, you should really check out the post and reply.
This way you will create highly engaged followers with your content. Followers that will keep coming back for more.
On Steemit it is very hard to find posts or comments that you have been mentioned in. So I want to point you to this Steemistry.com, as this website contain a mentions tool. This mention tools will quickly allow you find out who is talking about you on Steemit.
How to use Steemistry
All you have to do is enter your steemit name. It will then run off and it will search all of the comments and all of the posts and return all the posts and comments that you have been mentioned in.
When we run this report for me @paulag I am getting 681 pages of data, which I can click through to the next page.
Having a look at what has been returned to us, down the left we can see all of the article I have been mentioned in.
For me these posts include http://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@fairvote/10062017-check-these-great-posts-with-the-tag-cryptocurrency-recently-posted-on-steemit and https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitbc/steemit-blogger-central-s-rap-rewarding-awesome-posts-project-4.
When you click on the post, it will bring you directly to the post on steemit (however when I was making this video today steemit happened to be down)
This is a really good way to find any posts that you have been mentioned in.
What I would advise is that you engage with your loyal followers. These people are curating your content, they are mentioning you to their followers, and they are getting you additional exposure. The least you can do is actually acknowledge the effort and work they are putting in to help you grow and have your content acknowledged by other.
So go ahead now and check steemistry.com. At the moment this tool does not actually say who owns the site. But I know that @followbtcnews is involved.

Can also look at SteemWatch to be notified in real time and blacklist things that are spammy (like specific bots and so on).

I didn't know about this tool. It looks good I'll have to give it a go.
I have been using the esteem app by @good-karma. It's installed on my phone and I get a push notification when I get mentioned followed or commented.
