Hello Steemians!

The strangest thing happened to me today. I was peeling potatoes and I had.......

An epiphany!!!!!!!!! cue angel chorus.

(Okay, it was just an idea, no need to blow it up)

It was strange because I don’t usually have ideas when I’m peeling potatoes.
I’ve gotten ideas while reading novels, reading posts on various social media, talking to people and sometimes when I’m on the loo, but never while peeling potatoes.

What’s the idea?

Hold your horses, it’s...

STEEMAID!

(fanfare and drumrolls)

And no, it’s not a Steemit robot that proofreads and edits your post so you don’t end up saying “I ate pigs for breakfast” when you meant “I ate figs for breakfast”.

You have a Word processing app for that.

It’s a help platform for struggling Steemians.
Steemit has been good and some of us try to give back to our community one way or the other like @Misterakpan who plans to help youths in his village establish their very own plantain plantations.

And some other Steemians who have tried, are trying, or want to try to make an impact in people’s life.

Charity, they say begins at home. I know there are contests organised by well meaning Steemians with great prizes and that Steemians always rally round when help is needed. For example, the way we helped a Steemian mum that was about to lose her home and also had sick kids (that was a huge show of solidarity).

However, instead of writing a post that may or may not be seen by the whales or dolphins that matter(not like we minnows don’t matter, I haven't even reached minnowhood), what if there’s a particular place you can send a cry for help and it would be listened to and hopefully acted upon.

It could be a channel on the Discord app or an account on Steemit for the sole purpose of providing aid to distressed Steemians (a Steemit Bank if you will).

I haven’t really put much thought on the feasibility of this idea cos I’m not really tech-savvy and still have a vague idea of how things work here, for all I know there may be something like this on Steemit already.
Anyway, here’s how I think it could work.

Source

  1. A channel would be opened on Discord for this purpose and an account on Steemit too ( With whales following it, don’t forget the whales). We could call it Steemaid, Steemcare etc.
  1. And if a Steemian needed help, they would do that on Discord with as much details as they can supply. Mind you, this isn’t compulsory. The person could just write a post and pray people help.
  1. The mods would then look into the Steemian’s steem account, and verify if he/she is a bot or not. And if they have been active and have added value to the Steemit Community. Basically do all the background checks they can do.
  1. The Steemian would also require a number of fellow Steemians (preferably people from their area) to vouch for him/her that what he or she says is true.
Although this may proof some hardship, it’s necessary and it also serves to strengthen the bonds between Steemians.

Once, it has been satisfactorily proven that it’s a genuine request, the Steemit account would make a post to that effect and once other Steemians see it, they know it’s a genuine cry for help. And they answer it.

Here, Steps one to four above would be followed.

The only difference would be that there wouldn’t be any post.

Why?

Because the person would be given a certain amount, transferred from the STEEMAID account to that person.

How will we get the funds?

From the generosity of the Steemit Community.
If you feel like giving back, you could send some SBD once in a while to the friendly neighbourhood Steemaid account.

So there it is. The idea. A rough sketch of it though, I’m just throwing it out there.

I know people might try to take advantage of this platform if it is ever established, that is why there will be other criteria.

If you have certain modifications, or you feel that this isn’t a good idea and maybe you have a better one. Or you think it's good and are interested. You are open to comment.
