Alright people, so I'm not going to rehash the same shit I've gone over a million times. Okay, maybe just a little:
- The Steemit system rewards users who purchase paid upvotes
- Your content doesn't need to be good to hit the Trending page
- Most content on the Trending page is shit
- Most content that's NOT on the Trending page is also shit
- New people don't put enough effort into their work here because they assume they will be rewarded with STEEM anyway because that's just how the platform is designed
- They eventually get frustrated once they learn that virtually all exposure on here is purchased
- Furthermore, there is a learning curve with the vote bots and most people will lose money while they learn
- Meanwhile, the Trending page is full of poorly written posts that nobody reads
- The common "wisdom" on this platform is that if you just try hard enough, someday you'll make it
- People are encouraged to leave comments and "engage" with other users, which leads to 75% of comments being of the generic "great post" variety
- Users who hit the Trending page don't put effort into their posts because they know they don't need to
- Users who don't have enough money/balls to use voting bots don't put effort into their posts because they can't afford it
The result? A lot of shitty, low effort posts and comments that nobody is reading. Meanwhile, some whales are getting richer by super circle-jerking each other and self-voting their own posts. Nobody's happy.
Hail to the king, baby
So what's the solution? Simple: better content. Content is, and will always be, king of the internet.
Why do people use Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr or 4chan? Because they find those sites informative, entertaining or both. The difference between those platforms and Steemit is that they are sharing sites that [mostly] aggregate content, while Steemit is a blogging platform with an emphasis on original content.
The problem is that most of the content here is poorly formatted, uninteresting and full of spelling and grammar mistakes. People are assuming that the posts that earn big bucks on here do so because they're good. That's not the case. They make money because they're upvoted by powerful accounts.
Is this sustainable? I dunno. Seems to be working well so far.
However, I personally don't want to settle for "sustainable." I'd rather see this platform grow. More users means more eyes on my content, which means more upvotes, more business opportunities and ultimately more money - the reason we all have chosen this platform instead of another one.
I believe that if Steemit had an additional 20 high quality content creators who consistently made content that had the potential to go viral, this platform would get blown off the map. People would be sharing links on more established social media platforms that would point back here.
In addition to building the Google Juice of the site, it would also give users more direct traffic from massive social media sites like Reddit which aggregate content. That's good for everyone.
Drowning in a sea of unrealistic expectations
The problem with this site is that people come here with the wrong expectations. I know I did.
I came here and thought I'd make money just by posting whatever I wanted. It wasn't until later that I realized that the only way to get noticed was to pay for exposure. Now that people know who I am, it's a little easier. But you better believe that if I didn't promote this post, very few people would get the chance to read it.
Any given platform is nothing more than its content. This is especially true for Steemit because "stealing content" is a big no-no over here. Everyone has to come up with their own shit.
Statistically speaking, most people don't have any experience creating something designed to entertain. And when you can just buy some upvotes, what's your incentive to learn?
By contrast, look at Medium. Nobody is getting paid to write over there, yet the articles are of much higher quality than what you see here. Why? Because over there, people only write when they're inspired.
Now before you tell me that quality is subjective, let's define the term. For the purposes of this article, let's say that quality = well-written, properly formatted, grammar/spell-checked, entertaining/informative articles with clickbait headlines, a dash of copywriting, and a handful of paid upvotes.
Any way you slice it, there are very few posts on here that fit that tick all of those boxes.
We all want this platform to grow, don't we? How are we going to do that unless we venture outside the ecosystem? And we can't just promote some random Indonesian dude with bad grammar, writing about how happy he is to be on Steemit.
Normal people will see through it right away if they even bother to read it. Chances are that few of them will, because compared to the million other things they could be doing on the internet, it's not worth their time.
How to write good (and do other things good too)
So what I want to do is teach people how to write entertaining content that is shareable across platforms. I want to teach you how to profitably use upvote bots to get exposure on the Trending page. I want to teach you how to market yourself on Reddit, Instagram, Facebook and whatever other platform can give you traffic. I want to teach you how to write something interesting. I want to teach you how to write so well, that you can make something uninteresting seem interesting.
By doing this, not only do I establish myself as the leader of a group of increasingly talented writers, but I can effectively put people to work creating content that will help this platform grow. Not because I care about any of you or your well-being, but because what's good for @Steemit is good for @yallapapi.
And once you learn how to do what I do, my lovely circle-jerkers, it will be good for you too. You can market your business, promote yourself to brands as an influencer, or just make a little money on the side from upvote bots. We'll all grow the platform together by writing quality content and linking to it from outside sources.
If you're reading this, then I assume you want the same thing. Nobody is on here saying, "nah, fuck Steemit." No. You're here because you see the potential. Even if you don't understand how to make money yet, you see that some people are doing it and it gives you hope that it's at least possible.
Most sales training talks about making things a "win-win" for both buyer and seller. But if you've ever been part of a sales organization with commission-only salespeople, you'll know that it's a very predatory profession. Salespeople talk about making sales like they're talking about going into battle. When we go talk to customers, we refer to it as being "in the field."
Know who else says that? The military - another group of predators.
That said, it is true that both the seller and buyer need to benefit from the deal. The seller's job is to convince the buyer that the seller's product or service is worth more than the buyer's money.
Oftentimes, this requires advanced psychological tricks to remove the roadblocks in the buyer's mind. If the product or service is actually legitimate, most of the time it's in the buyer's best interest to purchase. That doesn't mean that they'll always choose to do so. It requires quick thinking and verbal finesse to convince them.
The reason I bring this up is that the fight for the Trending page is going to be the same way. I have my own idea about what it should look like. I want at least 50% of the first 20 posts on there to be by people who I have coached. I know how to keep readers entertained enough to read a 3000 word article, even when their original intent was just to skim it and leave a low-effort comment.
And I believe that if I can pass this knowledge onto other people on this platform, they can use it to create high value content that will be shared, hopefully go viral, and help the platform grow.
It's lonely at the top, but there's plenty of room
Right now, it's not hard for me to stand out on this platform because I can't think of a single person on here who writes like I do. It's easy for me to hog the spotlight now. And while it's a nice ego boost, I need to do what I always encourage other people to do: think bigger.
Yeah, I can write 2 posts per week and put them on the Trending page. Shit, I can even write 1 per day if I wanted to. I'm averaging a profit of around 100 Steem per post from my last 3 posts.
While that's tempting to think about, I'd rather think bigger than that. Writing a post every day and paying for upvotes is essentially the same as @haejin's short-sighted strategy. Quantity over quality.
Or, I can coach a group of 20 potential new writers, grooming them to be the next batch of high quality content creators for this platform. I can directly influence a group of people who will be the Next Big Things on this platform. And by extension, other social platforms where our content will eventually spread as well.
So let's talk a little about the details. Here's some of the topics I'm going to cover in #sharkschool:
- How to find your voice as a writer
- How to keep the reader entertained
- How to write long form articles even if you think you have nothing to say
- How to completely eliminate writers block
- How write a controversial post without alienating your readers
- Books/programs that will improve your writing
- How to format your posts so they "look pretty"
- How to properly use upvote bots so you don't lose money
- How to use resteem services to expose your post to everyone on Steemit
- How to hit the Trending page with every single post
- How to write something interesting even when you have nothing to talk about
- How to promote your content on other websites
- How to market yourself and build your brand
- How to integrate multiple social platforms so they build on each other
- How to improve your typing speed
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Will come up with a proper curriculum when I have time. I need to go over to @dolphinschool and rip off some of what they did.
Time to sell one of your livers
Sound good so far? Well let me give you some bad news: you're going to need some money to make this happen.
I'm not going to charge you, but you'll need money to upvote your posts. You'll need money for resteems. I would say about $100 SBD per post should do it. More if you can spare it. $150 would be better. $250 to be safe. So around $200 - $500 US. Keep in mind that this is money that you will get back in the form of SBD and SP after 7 days.
If you don't have that, I don't know what to tell you. You'll never hit the Trending page without your post getting those high value upvotes. Shit, maybe I'm wrong, but I've never seen anything on there worth less than triple digits. I don't have the Steemit algorithm in front of me, but I doubt there's a way to circumvent that.
I suppose you can still tag along for the ride anyway, but that's only going to get you so far. There are millions of good writers out there. Can you name them? No. Know why? Because they don't know how to promote themselves. That's probably the most important part of what I'll teach you.
Not because you're going to make a lot of money from Steemit. Get that out of your mind right now, because it's not gonna happen.
In fact, let me make it very clear: you're never going to make a full-time income from your author rewards. It will never, ever, ever, EVER in a billion years happen just by producing content.
Sure, you may get lucky here and there with a few upvotes from some high value accounts in addition to what you earn from the vote bots. But unless you're happy to eat hardboiled eggs and oatmeal for every meal, then it's not enough to live on.
No more livers? You can also pay with souls
If you want to participate, you have to look past the short term rewards that you'll get from your posts. The real value here comes from being a part of a group that will dominate the Trending page of the biggest blockchain-based content platform in the world. Do you realize how powerful that is?
You'll be building a rep on a platform that will someday be extremely attractive for advertisers. Make a name for yourself now, learn how to hold someone's attention for 10 minutes, and familiarize yourself with cost-effective marketing strategies - then you'll be in a good place when this platform goes mainstream.
If you want to sign up, leave me a comment and tell me what you're most interested in learning. I'll post the first lesson tomorrow.
Good luck.

No, dude.
You're doing it wrong.
This post is an infomercial. It's paid programming. It's the shit we'd see on late night television and it's sitting here in the primetime slot because you're exploiting a flaw in the design of this platform.
Regardless of the content, if there are twenty more people following your sales pitch here, this page will only get worse. Twenty more infomercials in the primetime slots only appeal to the people who do not understand the fact they are reading unmarked advertisements and being misled. Twenty more assholes bumping the actual regular content that typically drives these markets towards success down so they can replace it with misleading advertisements and low quality posts like this one of yours will be detrimental to the platform.
Many people who worked hard to gain traction here, who produce great stuff, are now being bumped down and replaced by assholes like you.
Do people share the advertisement that comes BEFORE the Youtube video or do they share the actual video? The answer to that is so goddamn obvious yet you're sitting here telling people that content consumers will start doing the opposite.
The moment this platform starts taking advertising like this seriously and starts doing it properly is the moment we will see a trending page that appeals to a much wider audience.
If you go look at Youtube, you will see a trending page. Now, just imagine what would happen to that platform if all of those content producers who worked hard to get where they're at got bumped down and replaced with paid programming and other forms of advertising like this post of yours. Those content producers would quit and not because they're weak failures who lack balls like you say. People quit so they can go find something better. That outcome is what you're encouraging here, yet you say you want the place to thrive. That doesn't make sense.
You do not know what you're talking about but because you paid for this primetime slot, people listen. False advertising like this post of yours is the devil, little waterboy, and you should know better.
This post should be thrown into the promotion pile and I will not be voting for this trash for the same reasons I do not pay Walmart for leaving a flyer in my mailbox.
Do you really think what you're doing will go viral simply because you "write this way?" This post and many more of yours only appeal to a select few on Steemit and the information you're presenting will be irrelevant within months if not weeks.
Let's look at the entertainment industry again. Do people collect Walmart flyers and advertisements or do they collect comic books?
Again, you have no idea what you're talking about. This post is junk and I burn flyers when I feel like starting a fire.
yup we have a new @haejin around :D this one is doing better for sure :) he's actually writing a lot :) plus he's at least an honest person, sure he's skewed by now and it only took him 3 months to offer people to sell their kidneys (maybe kindness is a better word)
This place does have some flaws and It's funny they are being exploited to be fixed I suppose, I was wondering what this is about and I do know where he's coming from, the fact is I too used to care about this place and originality, in fact I got here to go away from lame-stream media where everything is promoted into your face even if you don't want it there (YT being a prime example of a platform coming from original content and supporting creativity, into marketing and selling galore Thanks G we all wanted G+, into a full fledged TV echo chambers to keep you glued....)
You are one of those great creators that have made a name for themselves and I've seen you a few times even followed you for a month or so, the fact is many people can't cope, many have missed the open spaces and many just don't know how to market themselves as @yallapapi says, it's not that I agree, I don't think this is the way you should earn your place, it's totally not fair to the creators, but if you look at it from your ego perspective and what some "investors" or "early adopters" are doing, you'd probably say fuck it and either leave or take the route of "everyone is doing it"
I have some roots and some principles and of course i came at a time when this place was different, people were actually talking to each other, they still are it's just the madness has divided people and everyone is rushing after rewards since that is the way to stay relevant in this space, the problem is in the design and in people's mindsets, they just drag the "real" world with all the bullshit and their past habits. so then we have that recreated and nothing changed, I gave up once and it's still a tough climb back into my old shoes of actually not caring about the rewards and being here for the people and the information, it's taxing it's time-consuming and of course it's a bit disheartening seeing "bullshit walk and money talk"
I can only imagine how hard it is for people that have no idea, I mean I spent my first 3 months here without even blogging and I can see from how he's writing, it's just another "social media" for him as well, whereas for me it was more of FINALLY a SOCIAL MEDIA, a place where you can connect to people, where you can SHARE and COMMUNICATE, not just numbers and noise.
I really have yet to find something better than steem, forums were great in their select fields, but nothing on this scale has been done or has ever worked at least in my worldview. Either we make something good with it, or we can try our hardest to make something like it if we fail here. There will probably be copies popping left and right.
Even now there are blockchain social medias around, nothing like the technical marvel @dan has created (from a top-level it works amazing), even the steemit inc. team as much as I don't like them (?unrealistic expectations or just disappointments from past forks (fucking flood gates :D) )
So yeah, hopefully we make the good standards last and actually spark some change for a change :D
That is the nature of life, and that is the nature of humans, as we live in paradoxes between what we want and need, which includes money, lust, power, relationships.
I disagree with the honesty part you started out with but that's just how I see things. Doesn't really matter. Thanks for sharing the rest. I'm in an unresponsive state of mind right now so hopefully that vote can function as the words I can't find.
I was going to give a short comment about how "when you start believing the lies you can honestly say everything is fine and everything is allowed."
I read 5 of his posts 3 of the newer ones and 2 from his start, he's honest in what he says, he thinks so, he believes so and he acts accordingly, he really thinks the world is totally shit and everyone is shit so you can do whatever you like.
!disclaimer: personal opinion I have no idea what people believe in :D I can only guess from my perspective and their actions. What's interesting is that you had a whooooole discussion above and the comments here have grown so much it's lagging just to respond to one :D
For both YouTube and Steem isn't it true that the revenue that can be generated by an author is parallel to the demand for advertising on that platform?
Yes vote buying splits the daily reward pool thus meaning a smaller share for organic content creators. But the increased demand for SBD increases the overall value that those original content creators are receiving.
If 50% of rewards given out go to advertised content, yes that is 50% not available to others. But was it not that same demand for SBD that meant content creators were cashing out SBD for $5 or even $6?
If 20 people take his sales pitch and follow it and buy the same amount of votes, wouldn't that create a rather large demand in the market for SBD? Thus increasing payouts for all content creators.
That would create 20 more people who have to do the same thing just to be able to compete, then 20 more, then 20 more. Eventually, people become dependent on, let's say, 10 accounts that run bots. So, all of that power gets centralized into 20 hands because those bots make the money and increase the SP. The bottom 20 push the top 20 out of the way by spending more, that gives more power to the bots, the new bottom gets mad and pushes the new top 20 out of the way by spending more, so on and so forth until being in the top 20 is out of reach for the average member, so they leave, along with their eyes, many follow and eventually those top 20 are spending thousands of dollars to promote their work in front of an empty house. The value of the tokens plummet because the platform falls in on itself and everyone loses. The biggest losers turn out the be the one's who started this vicious cycle. You got 20 hands holding majority of the tokens, they start selling to save their skin and that's it. Done deal.
Isn't that already the situation now?
Are users leaving? I have no idea have only be posting for a few months.
People come and go all the time for many different reasons. I didn't really come here to share my opinion on these topics.
You just defined a ponzi scheme..,now i understand how bad this could be
Everything in this comment SCREAMS pyramid scheme.....I thought this was a place to come and write and potentially get paid. Not come and pay to be seen. I came to make money not spend it. Even if it takes a while. I like writing and I enjoy it. I don't want to not be seen bc some other yahoo bought his seat at the cool kids table. And I find it LESS encouraging reading on someone's article that my effort to write a nice article is null and void bc I'm not paying to promote it. If you think that this dude is wrong, what can YOU tell me and others in response to it? I mean what do you think I, as a newer writer, should do instead? You seem to think you have a better idea of what to do.
Yes, perhaps, demand is key in the law of supply and demand, in theory, but websites, and advertisement systems, may not always play by the same theories or rules or laws. Steemit seems to be more fair than YouTube to say the least.
it's fair because of the people in it, 70% of the active users actually care and some are actually great people, some are amazing, it's mostly honest p2p (person to person) interactions here, you rarely get that anywhere.
It's been a norm set by, rules, whitepapers (maybe)(not true) I'd say it was the good examples of good people and of course the tech and the team helped immensely. But it's funny how there are so many "teams" by now we are doing fine without communities, without marketing, without pretty much any outside support, most of the outside is seeing this as competition or a scam, of course some people know better :)
So yeah this has been the only social media I've seen at least. I would even argue that is how it should be done, decentralised, distributed and with power in people's hands, of course it might go in any direction the people steer it in, so we could have more yallapapis selling shoes and I don't even yeah fuck that .
So far so many paradigms have been shifted I'm not sure applying the same status quo would work, I hope people are smarter than this, but if they were those 300 people should have flagged this, actually yeah this really doesn't deserve such a payout and it's taking the rewards of other more deserving authors. Technically. In reality, who knows, I hope bullshit doesn't start walking here, because money sure was talking on the front page :| that's how steemit lost me, plus the acid color :D
Steemit is becoming what Facebook could have been.
Yes, and that is what we call a "good problem."
Ideals & Hope versus Reality.
I love this conversation.
People do collect advertisements, in fact they pay for them:
https://www.vintage-adventures.com/vintage-tobacco-ads/3777-1972-salem-cigarettes-ad-salem-refreshes-naturally.html
Sure. Vintage ads. That's taking things out of context. To put it back into context. People buy new comics. They don't buy new flyers. Those vintage ads are art now. The vintage comics always were. I can prove comics have value and flyers do not. You go to the store to buy a comic, flyers get dropped off in your mailbox, for free and we do not tip Walmart for doing that. Simple stuff.
I like that ad though. It proves how advertisers prefer to be misleading and will say anything for attention. That's eerily similar to what's happening in this post. My doctor actually recommends Camels though.
Its not only vintage ads that are collectable and can be considered art, for example, talking about audiovisual advertisements, there are several shows that dedicate themselves to curating ads from all over the world, and those are recent ads, not vintage. A flyer is a simplistic, deprecating example of advertisement and its you who is taking things out of context here, not me. You equate posts with bought votes to paid programming that is taking a primetime slot, when reality is that in your very own example, a prime time slot, people have to buy that slot to be able to put their content there, they buy that slot from the TV station/cable channel/etc.
Also, you say "paid programming" as if the content in question was an infomercial or something like that, when its not, your whole analogy is ill conceived.
Content with bought votes is not paid programming just like anything you see on a primetime slot is not paid programming just because the producer had to buy the slot.
They call them "promotion bots". They say it's advertising. Because of that terminology, the moment one of those bots is used, the post becomes a form of advertising. A promotion. Paid programming. You can call it whatever you want. The slot was purchased. The post isn't here because it was receiving high ratings and high ratings are what gives content trending status. The people here were duped into viewing an advertisement.
This post is an unmarked advertisement. You can pick apart little pieces of what I said and twist things and do whatever you want. I won't be changing my mind.
According to your logic, any content in a paid slot is advertisement, but your problem is that you only consider paid, what is transparently bought. How do you think that the trending page got to be filled with shit in the first place before vote bots?????
Think hard....
Because not all vote services are transparent, there are shadow vote markets in steemit, and you know it. What you are defending are those shadow vote markets and the circlejerk, you are defending the status-quo while pretending to defend virtue.
I find that contemptible.
This is not an unmarked advertisement, its a post with bought votes, and its clearly marked as such, it is the other posts on trending that are unmarked promoted posts with shady crony vote markets.
I am not defending that. As a matter of fact I didn't bring that up, you did.
What I'm talking about, is what I said. Sure, I have views on other things as well, but you don't know what those are, because I'm not talking about other things right now.
You can keep trying to pick out little pieces here and there with the hopes of discrediting everything I said, but that won't change anything.
I still believe what I believe and I think you're just going to have to deal with that.
I do believe there are solutions as well.
Labeling promotions as promotions would be a step in the right direction. Even I would feel comfortable writing up a genuine promotion, spending money, and promoting some of my previous work and future intentions if the approach wasn't misleading new members into thinking my work is where it is because it's popular. Popular posts belong on the trending page. Promotions belong on the promoted page. There's nothing stopping a blogger here from promoting their work and linking that promotion inside their blog with a banner placed within their regularly scheduled material. They could still get views on their promotions if they knew what they were doing.
Right now, people are using promotion bots, placing X amount of rewards beside their posts, and blending in with the rest of the post that have X amount of rewards beside them. That might as well be zero because that's how much it's helping people. I can look at a post with $50, 8 votes, 4 views and know exactly why nobody is looking. If I was to purchase votes to boost my posts, do you really think all of these people who haven't voted for my work over the past year and a half would suddenly have a change of heart?
Honestly though, saying something like, "I don't support THIS so that MUST mean I support THAT," is so damn ridiculous that I can't even figure out why I'm speaking to you right now.
What is your next move? More spin? I came here to say what I said, not argue with people about nonsense.
This. 100 times this. Voted to be top comment.
This, For that ^.
Just one time.
Fuck the vote though.
We got bots for that shit bro you aint know........
amirite or AMIRITE??
Basically agreed. ``Let's look at the entertainment industry again. Do people collect Walmart flyers and advertisements or do they collect comic books?'' Good way to put it.
Just wrote a post about this topic, now adding a link to your comment.
Well said man, allowing this kind of attitude in our platform, will NEVER make things better as what we have now on other platforms.
Both points are correct here. I do not watch football, I find it idiotic. The Superbowl ads.....totally watch them. The internet has become ad-based on so many platforms. Sell your content, is like prostitution, but if you make a shitpost and exploit it for $$$, you open a market. A content-centered post can overtake a shitpost by applying the same dirty tricks. I see both points here, all though the philosophical underpinnings are mutually exclusive for sure.
true
These posts are about "gaming the system" (by telling people how to game the system) and I for one find the honesty of the @yallapapi content refreshing.
Granted he's being an absolute cunt about it, but he's my type of cunt and it's an enjoyable five minutes read whilst I'm taking a shit (I'm taking a shit).
This post may be the junk you "burn" but you've read it fucking top to bottom then called the number on the flyer and given them your life story.
What makes you think I read the post? A quick skim is all it takes to know this is the same recycled bullshit from previous posts.
And don't come at me like you're some kind of hero. You're just a dude who took a shit.
Oh noes, I lost the game...
Better luck next time.
someone actually linked a vintage commercial going for 10 dollars :D ... but you can probably find anything on the market :D
not sure he said much, other than it's bullshit to think the way portrayed in what's above, maybe
I think I do a better job of "my life story" although that's a grain in comparison to what I could comment, I'm keeping it short :D 600 words + that's short and this is me being realllllly short :D
What I actually meant (and sarcasm and boredom to blame for not iterating it clearly) is that we've done exactly what this article was designed to: engage.
The content is well written and the chap writing it is basically paying for exposure, causing conflict and using "click bait" tactics to do this; but he's also breaking the 4th wall by telling you he's doing this and exactly why it's working (it is working, we have engaged).
You're giving the wrong guy credit for what happened here. :)
it's the first post I read of him although I was interested in what that new name hovering around the trending, to be fair it's got some merit, of course nothing spectacular, just bland filler and long story stretched, well writtenish, at least passable so many people can read it, coming from a limited perspective and forcing its limitations on others so they are more "successful"
I'm kind of interested in reading his material, his starting ones might be more interesting.
Funny you said someone who took a shit :D I made a post about that, different connotation, you can check it out, might be funny, I bet you haven't watched that movie, I bet 2 SBD :P
Nice article good posting
the way you write humbles me...weldone
YouTube Trending is mostly fake now. Also, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Snap Chat, and others too. We go to the http://d.tube because it seems to be different than YouTube hehe. Yes, I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold, and I hate Walmart hehe.
He is absolutely doing it wrong. You don't need that many words to upvote yourself :-P
But the system is sound.
Missing: Limited one-time offer, join the mailing list
TL;DR Just write 500 good words and upvote the fuck out of yourself. #smartsharkschool
At least you caught on to the apparent plan of creating a "circle jerk" while he pulls sleight of hand tricks and says those don't work.
Thank you very much for the good content.
@nonameslefttouse, thank you for this beautiful reply to this dude @yallapapi who seems to need more education about this platform. Stuffs like his may only trend for awhile but are not sustainable on a decentralized platform like this. Of course people take advantage of the system and abuse is inevitable but that is not to validate the act the more. The real content creators are the ones who will eventually last on a platform like this and not some shitty Vulgar-laced contents being promoted to trend like what this dude keeps posting. Kudos to those hardworking guys that are striving to make the platform a better one. Do not be discouraged its only a matter of time when the wheat will be separated from the chaff
What I think when I see this situation.
Whale fight? @yallapapi isn't a whale, he's a minnow. There aren't any whales here talking.
If you think yallapapi is a whale because of that money beside this post, you'd be mistaken. He purchased most of the votes that allowed this post to earn so much, but he's not really earning that money, it's meaningless. Purchased votes have little to no value, they just fake it, like yallapapi fakes it.
Now I understand, the majority of posts that are on the rise and trend, is because buying that, that's really bad, because their reputation goes in bots, and as you say is false, I used bots before, but it's a waste of money, because when you publish something and do not rent bots, nobody votes, I have seen with so many publications that it is much better to have people vote your publications and to put content of quality obiously.
Nice
There are already whales who upvote valuable content. Some even refuse to vote friends and acquaintances if the post don't pass their standards. This is based on my experience. I can see this culture in some small groups. I hope this kind of movement will get noticed and initiate change. Keep up the good work.
Yeah small groups and getting smaller. Why give upvotes when you can sell them. More money and we don't even have to be here. Sure this is not ethical. Sure this is not sustainable in the long run. If you care about quality posts you lose in the short run. There may not be a long run. Unless something changes in regards to reward distribution, as they say on Wall Street, 'Greed is Good'.
In all honesty there are whales who really value great content, wish more could come out to show that content truly is king.
Hiro is right! We must continue helping others promote and up vote the content.
agreed.
Agreed, whales upvote better stuff, and that is the art of the deal of capitalism and I love it and I promote it and some people do get to the top or towards it and some of that might be centralized or part of capitalism and it involves risk and some get more rich and some get more poor and that is the secret to innovation through competition and people are not always going to win but that the adventure of what life is all about as we battle through storms towards rainbows.
Just curious: Why do you post so many random images in here that is off topic and has nothing to do with the original blog post? It looks like spam. Nobody else is doing it.
Are you against free speech? It seems that you are attacking my free speech by making up too many subjective rules based on the theories of relativity and subjectivity as opposed more eternal, absolute, laws, of fundamental reality, eternal philosophies, which is mentioned by @Stefan.Molyneux, and what I do and write and share is and/or is not directly and/or indirectly related, relevant, correlated, to the main topics relating to Steemit, Steemit School, capitalism, the art of the deal, theories in ads, in marketing, in how we are to make money and share and advertise especially on this website of http://steemit.com and the photos I share to some extent can be attributed to an extension of an avatar, a profile photo, and free speech extends to hate speech as well as hate is an opinion through subjectivity and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder apart from Christian values, perhaps. My comments are related and the photos is what you are questioning. And photos and videos do that all the time. You see a commercial with a HOT GIRL and then you see a car and then you go and buy a car. So, in some ways, maybe, I am doing something like that. But we all do that sometimes or we can do stuff like that and that is how stuff works on average.
No, I was just asking why you posted random images that had no relevance to the original post. It both takes up too much space and you did it over 3 times. A profile picture is smaller and is suppose to show the account. But a picture takes up massive space and should be relevant to the topic being discussed.
Buying votes is the easiest way.
Cool, now it's very common in steemit. I think, you are right, sir.
I do not buy votes but some people do, hehe, I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold, and I love Steemit and Dtube and Gab and Steepshot and Dlive ad Bitcoin over Social ghettos like Facebook, Twitter, Apple, YouTube.
Ok, I'll bite.
I have a share fair of copywriting and storyteeling skills, so I understand what you said and find value on it.
So, basically #sharkschool is a free sellers course with a coaching approach, focused on producing writing content.
Sounds good. I'm in.
What am I interested to learn the most? Well, I think the one thing that makes you really original here:
How to monetize controversy.
I don't know how to do that. That's quite an asset.
By the way, @yallapapi, think about a discord channel. It's just the way things like this get done here. Or, if you prefer some telegram group or something, I suppose that would work too.
just get into people's faces and be a dick while making yourself to be 10 other things as well but say you are a dick,,, basically make controversy and upvote yourself....
Our project is to collect authors contribute quality contents manually where curation hunters hassle free minimizing their time searching to put their votes worth and report spammers in order to maintain the beauty of this platform.
we are glad to see if you have time to visit our station dropping your votes.
You may upvote this comment and follow us helping our community will grow chasing authors contribute quality contents and report spammers.
You actually missed another solution to fix this problem, modify the blockchain to have people fill out a captcha every time they upvote/downvote. This would eliminate all voting bots instantly and force people to participate instead of just sell their STEEM power to earn $$ doing nothing...
Wahh! I really never look at the trending page - only when I need to have a look, how @heajin/haedjin/headchin (whatever) is spelled right.
Thanks to my dyslexia, I found your post and you already got me with your Braveheart video (which is my alltime favorite movie). The rest is history, or at least saved in my favorites to read later, since the length of your post is also historical... (and hysterical)
I already forgot the content... ah...content right! Yes, it's king! And you are it's queen, @yallapapi63 - Thanks a bunch!
One of my Fav movies out with mel gibson
People look i get Auto downvotet by user @patrice with his bot mack-bot. Hes tracking me and downvoting every commetn from me. How can steemit work when people are abusing his power? It was because of my selfvoting and now look what can happen. Stupid tracking me with a biot and auto downvortng. This should nothappen on steemit.
whenever i selfvote. What is not against the rules. HEs downvoting me. Wtf is this? Is that steemits future? Bot down vote wars? So my only response is to do the same? How stupid is this mechanic?
Maybe he is a socialist and got jealous.
Absolutely great post @yallapapi
Thanks for the insights and for speaking the truth! The truth bloody hurts, and I've felt that here too! No point in bullshitting folk is there?
I was introduced to Steemit in January by an online friend and You-Tuber who I'd wrote some music for his videos. He said all of the usual 'you'll make loads of money from your music' etc etc! But I didn't! I was completely deflated like a double airbed within a week of being here, and I CAN actually write decent content and produce original music.
So, I'm now in my 3rd month, on my 2nd account after my original account was hacked by some robbing bastards! I was supported by a fantastic bunch of helpies who created me a new account. My music was heard by the right people, and I now make some SBD every week from my music posts. It's been a real eye opener here but, I totally agree with your point about the importance of up-voting your own content to get 'Some eyes on it' cos, you know what guys? 'Money talks and bullshit walks'
So I echo what you are saying to the new users here!
Even if you can only afford to chuck 5 or 10 SBD at a bot to upvote your post DO IT! Because you won't make it here if you're not willing to invest in your own content!
Just make it good content though eh people, and try to comment on others posts with some worth and intelligence 🧠
Cheers for your post @yallapapi I enjoyed it.
Darren
Here's a post I wrote a few days ago about my time here so far! Not up to your standard but it gets the point across.
https://steemit.com/new/@darrenclaxton/how-s-your-steemit-journey-so-far-tips-for-newbies
You can make it here without investing in your own content, I suggest.
That can happen. Or rather it will happen.
Because the system is proof of brain; either proof of brain works, or the value crashes or stays down, it seems, among other things, that's why @Dan left.
It will happen, or the value of the token will plummet. (Hopefully it doesn't. This is a great project.)
Many users, I suggest, like me, can buy votes ... but won't. (Indeed, didn't invest.)
I personally want to know if the system can work on proof of brain. There's no mining. It's proof of brain and voting. The security and value of the system depends on content being able to replace mining. If the proof of brain doesn't work by itself, or rather, if everyone has to be an investor, not just a proper fraction people, the system will fail.
Because mainstream institutional investors have far more money and will take over the platform directly, or consensus will fill form that proof of brain isn't sufficient o replace mining. @Dan has already written that mining has some advantages.
And content needs to improve, also, simply because trending is all most people see. Serious people don't play game and they will go to Youtube and Shitbook, even tho such places basically double as surveillance platforms. They seek interesting things, respectable things. Not all Youtube is tide pod eatery.
I like to say, ``What needs to happen, will happen.'' Probably. Or it won't.
Systems change under pressure of their own constraints.
I've written something like this comment when somebody else (@surfermarly) last had a trending page post regarding this issue. I said, If there is no proof of brain, there is no voice in the long, no archiving, no blockchain. Investment AND content cannot be required from every user, because most users have nothing to invest, first of all, which is why delegated proof of stake is potentially superior to mining, and second, if voice remains but is invisible, user retention will drop to the point the delegated proof of stake is not sustainable. Not secure. And then everybody loses their voice.
Think of social networks as dynamical systems which generate requirements top down onto their users. It's a good way to look at networks and make predictions.
How did you get hacked? anything I can learn from on that front?
I visited a site that I thought was Steemit but was in fact a clone called Steewit... I logged in as usual with my master password and found that after a few minutes, when I returned to my laptop, I couldn't log in... My SBD had been transferred to another account and they had started to power down my SP.
I now only login using my private posting key.
Just make sure you are visiting the correct site each time. It's so easy to be caught out when you're in a rush, like I am most of the time.
Thanks
Darren
steewit , thx for info .
That's right.
Please do not use your master key for any sites.
Your private posting key will suffice and you'll still be able to login to your account if the worse happens.
Fingers crossed it won't.
Oh and, Please don't visit that site.
Cheers
Darren
And only try to sign into the most popular and well known applications of Steem, like http://Busy.org and Dtube, Dlive, Dsound, Steepshot, for example.
Thank you for this info too, appreciate it. As more "normal" people join the space it's quite a deterrent.
Gawd how awful. I have to remember how smart and clever people in this space are. I got scammed for the first time of my internet life. I had dialup in 1995. I've never fallen for anything Until now. Lucky I didn't get hacked but gave up a little bitcoin. It's hard to keep this at the top of your head. Sorry that happened to you--
He logged into a Phishing site called "steewit" trick spelling. Details in his first blog post.
Also be careful about memos and copy & paste among other things.
but doesn't it take 3 months to power down and withdraw?
I've never powered down. I don't know if there was another hardfork to shorten the power down time or not.
For the record, I do not support a short window, as I believe people who put "skin in the game" to stake and have a say in the platform should be locked in for a time.
Thank you, it's such a tough space for this.
good steemit life writing post thank for shearing
I don't upvote. I don't use bots on Steemit since joining June 2017 but buts and upvoting helps and money talks and saves time and people don't really have unlimited time and if you have more money than time, then use it or lose it. Music is great, I'm Oatmeal Joey Arnold, and I write too, play guitar, piano, sing, film, draw.
nothing matters, just buy your way to the top with voting bots
Ok, I'm confused by this now??
This article/post started out saying it makes no difference about how you write, your content etc and then it goes on to say how we will be taught the following.....
How to find your voice as a writer
How to keep the reader entertained
How to write long form articles even if you think you have nothing to say
How to completely eliminate writers block
How write a controversial post without alienating your readers
Books/programs that will improve your writing
I believe and it is very clear from the trending page that you could have the best-written article but without exposure and paying for upvotes at the minute you have little chance of being featured.
My plan with Steemit is to create content on other platforms and help people come over here and start on their journey.
Hopefully, as I am producing content and showing them a way over here I will get followers and more.
Regarding paying for upvotes I look at it like any form of marketing, without it you can have the best product in the world but if no one knows about it then you have shit out.
Thanks
Have you ever been to the Trending page?
Good. Name 1 post you remember from there.
Can't think of anything? That's why the content needs to improve.
I tend to avoid 'trending' like the plague. Finding good content there is like the proverbial needle in a haystack. I prefer seeing only the content of those people I am following, but even 'my feed' is filled with content from accounts I do not follow.
Agreed, we all can do that, help get people on over to Steemit from other places.
🗅
Everyday I'm shuffling. Haha. Great song, Jelly. Shocking. Pun intended.
Yallapapi,
That you are a great content writer proofs already on how much attention you have received from other Steemians.
A lot of People with " Bad English" as you mentioned want to create great content as well, however, there is nobody to tell them right and 150$ or more are for some countries a month wage, you think that they will give up their food and rent so that they can write a decent content on steemit?
Nothing is guaranteed not even your way of teaching others, to get back the money in 7 days? practice makes perfect and not just paying somebody they do not know who offers a crash course English, posting & etc.
Steemit Encourse people to post/blog whatever they like to write and yes some of the content may not be sufficient for you but, for them its a lot of effort to post something they could be proud of.
Believe me, I do not totally disagree or agree with some upvotes commends you made, unfortunately in this world money talks and yes some have to work harder than others to urn more upvotes.
If we all support each other by helping out how to create great content even the bad English speakers ( none English speakers) or the people who have not the correct education, could be a fantastic content writer after all, for example, to charge in Steem they earn from their post, this will keep the Steem ecosystem healthy :)
Your post can listen to if we support each other, not pointing fingers.
As you maybe have noticed I'm a none English speaker but at least I'm able to express myself and keep trying to get better and be part of the Steemit Community :)
Have a Great Day,
Ernold
Agreed and that is the risk of life for sure.
Good initiative. I see some of the other big influencers on this site, do something similar as well. @jerrybanfield is doing something similar with his partner program, but it seems to be triggered towards people who want to make a living out of it and basically only be doing this.
For most people here, we cant do it every day, because we do have jobs and families to take care of.
If a program is made, it should take the vast majority into consideration. The ones that can only dedicate a small portion of their time to write. I am one of these people, so right now, voting bots are my best bet at promoting my shitty posts.
Plenty of programs out there already for the vast majority. I will teach people how to do what I do. Can the vast majority do that? Doubtful.
That said, you can modify the program as necessary.
Hey @yallapapi,
I have been following your content for quite a while now. Its interesting enough that it could be a thing to do.
The trending page is full of garbage that no one ever reads or only reads because of money (Pakistanis I mean).
So hell yeah, lets do the #SharkSchool thingy. I have a reputation on here which I have earned without actively using votebots & resteem services.
I wonder what it will look like using those. Anyway, I will still keep tabs coz I wanna know the other stuffs you said about marketing and creating a brand.
Create a discord channel for best community results. I can help you with that too.
Cheers!
Coming soon.
Totally agree. A discord channel for the school would be perfect.
Oh and I’m also keen to get involved in the school.
Not sure if I can fund more than one post per week but maybe that will be enough?
Thanks for the comment. You should help me with the discord channel creation start up.
Thanks for the comment. You should help me with the discord channel creation start up.
@nairadaddy how long before u got to this level bro?
Good post, follow me and I follow you,【 ✔ 】RESTEEM BOT: Send 1 SBD or 2 STEEM To franklin001233 URL as Memo , Resteem to 14.000+ Followers ,%100 upvote,Upvote with min +45 accounts Upvotes Good lucky【 ✔ 】
Haha, you never fail to entertain me and I read your entire long post, you deserved an upvote from me
While I agree you are a decent writer, I wouldn't seek out anything you have written if it wasn't on Steemit, no biggie. I would just as soon scroll through funny memes.
There are many interesting articles written by people who live in different cultures that I find much more interesting than you. Errors and all.
Yeah, I think you are on a crazy high horse.
The new platforms that come on will sort by type of content and make it easier to find what each of us is looking for.
Buying votes is a way to invest, it means you are leaving your money in the system or at least reinvesting in it.
Agreed, love investing, putting skin the game. Love organizing.
Holy shit! This is exactly what I wanted.
What do I want to learn from sharkschool?
Everything.
Every last drop of @yallapapi's knowledge juice.
even though you are saying the content is king, I feel one has to market it very well to reach to the audience
And there it is: The death knell of steemit. Or rather, the death knell of the steemit people thought @ned and @dan wanted.
What do I mean?
Many people, both old-timers who've been here for over a year, and newbies like myself, have been labouring under the misapprehension that what was wrong with the trending page was that anyone could pay to get there - that any arse-hat with money to burn can buy their way to the front page and get 60,000 pairs of eyes on their self-involved rants for a day, displacing writers and creators with actual talent.
Being talented in any endeavour is relatively rare. Being a talented writer or artist is no exception. Nor are these talented individuals always loaded with available cash, due to the difficulty in making ends meet via these arts.
It's one thing to attract talent, but apparently what the Steem network really needs is new money. Talented creatives do not equal as much new money coming in as untalented but cashed up wannabes (or so some people on steemit clearly think). We worry that the lack of real flair on the trending page is a problem for marketing steemit. But that depends entirely on who you are marketing it to.
Does our trending page currently attract loads of punters in search of something awesome to read? No. Let's not kid ourselves, it's pretty bad. However, for people who have a bit of money in their pockets but who haven't been able to cut the mustard professionally or academically, it's a siren call - a dream come true. Not famous enough? Can't break through in other media? No one reading your cryptocurrency predictions? Pay your way to fame and possible future fortune - all it will cost you is at least $10,000 to buy votes.
What was our 'misapprehension'? It was that the trending page is anything other than what powerful account-holders here want it to be. I'm not saying that this account, with it's promises to help people learn how to buy their way to the top is a direct stratagem on their part, any more than other controversial high earners are. But if it keeps getting the payouts and attention it has thus far, I'd take it as tacit endorsement at the very least.
Nurturing talent might be good in the long term, but to pump money into the system in the nearer future, the trending page we have, complete with a shark-school convincing even more punters to spend up big on SBD and Steem, is exactly what certain people think we need.
Why does everyone hyperfixate on the voting bots? I’m talking about using the current system to get more visibility for better posts. There’s nothing stopping anyone from doing this without a 15 part course by me.
Hey dude, I'm not the one spending hundreds of dollars per post on paid upvotes to advocate spending hundreds of dollars per post on paid upvotes.
To many people do not understand that one cannot be acting in there own self interest until they learn how to act within their vested interest. That interest which is good for all within the community is not only in the interest of the self, but in the interest of the community at large. When enough people understand this the trending will just disappear along with many practices that merely serve the self.
I wish people understood steemit for what it is instead of for what they want it to be. In my opinion steemit is a vessel that is being filled from an old container (the good ole by system echo chamber). Steemit is its own echo chamber and is really destroying peoples moral value. Example the flag wars would never be allowed in the real world because it uses monitory value to harm peoples incomes and abridge the right of free speech. In a very real way these problems will either be solved or steemit will go away too.
I for one am going to do everything in my power to make sure that doesn't happen. I love the basic concept of steemit, and merely recognize that it doesn't support the human value system. Either it will in the future or it wont have a future. Natural law will prevail.
I'm still worried about this promoting with bid bots, I just looked at your history with this post, I added what you spent on bid bots and it comes out to about 330 SBD about $660.00 at the current exchange and right now you have $561.00, taking away the curation you will receive a payout of $420.00, now you have to make over $200.00 just to break even.
You are actually spending your own money to promote your posts, I really don't think that promoting with bid bots is profitable, only if they manage to get you a following of people who will upvote every post you make from now on, and they have to be people with a nice amount of Steem Power.
It is profitable. Your math is wrong. Will go over this later.
Well it is wrong in the fact that I don't include the $210.00 that will be sent to SP, but being you invested $664.00 and have by now invested even more (32 SBD), you would still be short of some money to break even, and that's not taking into account that you do have real votes in that money the post has made, so I stick to my idea that bid bots are not going to make you money, OK you might gain a following, but you actually say bid bots make you a profit and that is not so.
Business 101, it is like a sale. And you may lose money but may draw in even more people when you trend or if it is a store where you draw in even more to come to the store and some will come back again and again in the future to share and to maybe upvote future posts and the long-term potential may be worth the investment, the temporary losses for future potential gains.
Sure, but most people here don't have the money to spend $700.00 on advertising and anyway that is a hit or miss idea. I think it would be more reasonable and more profitable to just buy $700.00 worth of Steem, and start upvoting people, you will probably get more followers this way and maybe make a killing if the price of Steem spirals upward, , and people tend to upvote articles of people who have given them a good vote. And remember $700.00 is something you have to spend on every post you make before you get any traction which could result in a lot of money.
Agreed, it can be too expensive to buy ads on Steemit or other places too. And it is generally a bad habit for a bunch of fundamental reasons. There can be better ways of marketing but it may take more time and work.
Hey, this is my first comment ever on Steemit. I'd like to sign up. I got money to burn, but I want it spent wisely. I want to see better content on this site and I'll write it myself if I have to. My real goal is to see us overtake Facebook which I hate with the fire of a thousand suns.
Seek and ye shall find
Lol what's up with the random images in those lines that get increasingly random toward the end?
I don't have SBDs for promoting my posts cuz I'm dirt poor, though that won't stop me from making epic shiz.
I feel you know a lot about marketing things after I read one of your posts where you say how people can scale their earnings on Steemit by using ads, writing a book (haejin's example) and whatnot.
That made me go wow; seeing a transparent technique/method for increasing our earnings right in front of my eyes.
So I'll surely be following your future shark school posts!
He nailed it with his marketing tactics. That...and shirtless pics. Start posting shirtless pics and you literally have to beat away the female followers.
Pretty sure I'll start losing followers then.
Rapidly.
"Mmhhhmmm nice guns, you been working out?"
I've been known to "fire off" a couple "rounds" of bicep curls now and then.
Shoot, so you look like those muscly guys in 'em magazines?
sexy
I feel it's almost...too much sexy!....like the camera was a bit shaky, from all the sexual energy pulsating through the cameraman's every thought
LOL. Will go over that in a future post.
Wait, so I was the first one who bothered to ask? Seriously? xD
See, you've got such a faithful reader.
@yallapapi
Your methods are unorthodox and weird, but true as ****.
Well written. I wish I could afford for your #sharkschool. But that shits just too expensive for me.
I vouch to be your loyal follower from today.
Much love from @lizbethk
This is a smart take. I have come to accept predation outside of my front door. Makes life easier. I am resteeming for @pastbastard , namely so I can re-read. 🦈🦈🦈
This Man Is On His Shit
I'm literally brand new to steemit. This being my very first comment and I've yet to post. I was told about steemit a few months back but just never joined. Before I joined, I was reading post like a crack addicted searching for a fix.
A few months back I was in a car accident that left me stuck in bed with a broken back!
F*ckd
While I laying in bed, bored as hell, I came across How To Make $10k A Month The Old Fashioned Way . I was a bit reluctant to join because i didn't think I could write IDS. After seeing this I'm jonezin for more.
I'm Ready....
Sensei Show Me The Way
I can show you the path, but it's up to you to walk it. Or wheel yourself down it.
Read to wheel my friend. I got the battery fully charged on my chair and just popped of the governor . Shit will go 12 mph now instead of 4mph
where do we begin ?
show me
The writers like you need the steemit community. By doing so you can succeed in providing us very good information. I am proud that I am part of this society. I read every article you need. And indeed I responded very much to you and your articles.
I know you can climb the highest mountains. Never lose faith in yourself. Good luck!
This brother here hasnt earned up to 250 sbd since he got on Steemit.
How do i do?
Watch and learn
I think I’m falling in love with you and your highly entertaining bullshit...you convinced me to join grammarly online editor and up my game, I have the sbd, but no voice and my grammar sucks... I have tons of ideas and creativity😁🦈
Yeah. How is Grammarly so popular? ....what happened to grade 5? ...it's useless. They basically just do the hard parts for you. Like a calculator, kinda. And where has following that path got us?...well, I guess computers...which has led to porn.
Ok..I'll give Grammarly a go.
I can’t remember grade 5, I had a difficult childhood and a learning disorder...but I’m gifted in other areas...I need all the help I can get....I’m trying grammarly out for a couple months to see if I can get some help with my commas😆😂😂😂
Thank God I don’t spank my kids...there are more creative ways to discipline that avoid the boner that violence brings.
I have not used Grammarly and probably won't haha.
I like this platform because you are on your own, it’s sink or swim....skills learned here, marketing, writing, coding, networking, crypto trading, learning basic economic models can translate into real world profit if you have the grit and don’t give up...lazy apathetic people are boring and even if they game the system won’t learn sustainable skills...bidbots even though I use them are not sustainable...especially if the product/content is boring and useless.
Agreed, sink or swim is capitalism and Steemit and Bitcoin. And I believe in maybe some democracy in the world but I favor in a focus on a republic for government over a democracy. But for markets, I favor unlimited, unregulated, universal, international, global, total, complete, maybe fair, capitalism, and not crony capitalism, and not fake capitalism, and not regulated capitalism and not progressive liberalism leftism capitalism or other bad versions of capitalism. I want governments to be as small as possible and I want individualism and autonomy and tribalism and nationalism and Americanism and Christian values and capitalism and family first values and other fundamentals, principles, philosophies, to rise and rise globally as much as possible.
In regards to this
"Is this sustainable? I dunno. Seems to be working well so far."
Is the reason you don't know because you recognize that the system is once again in favor of those who have?
My opinion is that just like all societies and fiat currencies it's days are numbed.
Thus there is no vested interest for the individual, which means eventually no steemit.com.
Just sharing my opinion. I hope to help it change so that it has a longer survival length.
@nonameslefttouse I hope you don't mind me tagging you. I up voted your comment because I agree with your comment for the above reasons.
The way to circumvent this is by creating quality content that is shareable on other platforms.
Entrepreneurs/hustlers will always have an advantage over people who complain about "inequality." You can go give all your possessions to homeless people if you care so much about equality.
Yeah you're right. It seems that most of trending page are just BS. It's not the fault of the platform but the fault of the author and BS posts telling steemit is worthless. Skeptics are skeptics.
Sadly, I do not have $200-500 US per post to invest.. but this was very informative + thoroughly entertaining, enlightening, not to mention, eye-opening! Thanks for posting!! ♡ @amatchgirl
Here's $0.04
Aww, thank you..!! ♡ @amatchgirl
Hey @yallapapi I love what you're getting at. Let's make the trending page great again. Let's make Steemit churn out some kickass content.
Plus, am really keen to know how you market and create a brand. That's an area that I've been trying to work on.
I really enjoy reading your article, it is brilliant and it tackle to the core of the problem then you sugar coat it with a fine touch of humor. Post like your paying bots for upvote to get to the White House and yet i have no problem with that, its that good.
You crack me up, mate.
I'm offended, you want to take it outside? brah.
As a mere scrub, I've noticed the only way to make money on Steemit is to do the following -
Find one of the newb info guides on Steemit 'etiquette' and then do exactly the opposite to everything it recommends.
That seems to be working for all the people that make serious money here, anyone following the 'rules' is getting dick.
I never read those rules. I guess I shouldn't then, hehe. Thanks for saving me time.
The problem with Steemit is, that there is no incentive to flag bad content.
Everyone just praises shit content on the trending page in the hope of getting a big upvote from the author (which, of course, they never get).
Why should we downvote?
Actually who invested more he/she getting more vote/reward whether it's quality post or shit post in here. And then it went to trending. Now this the reality in steemit.
Did you pay a bot to upvote your comment? Was there any point to that? We don't have trending comments.
This comment has received a 0.30 % upvote from @booster thanks to: @steemgainer.
agreed hehe
Inspiring many thoughts! I've thought through the points you make, and in general they apply to me. I put in hours of effort for most (not all) posts, but I know I'm probably not going to be rewarded with upvotes, STEEM, SBD, or SP...my goal is to find that one reader who may be inspired or gain insight from my posts. I am a retired research scientist, and I have years of experience and unfinished research that needs to be accessible to younger, fledgling scientists who can actually use my input to advance their own careers and the trajectory of scientific information dissemination in the future. The existing standard peer review system for publishing scientific discoveries has many flaws. Steemit offers the platform I need to publish and disseminate my unpublished scientific data.
And our stuff stays online forever and can be useful now or maybe in ten years from now and we are building databases and empires that we build on and we grow each day that way and more people begin to follow us as time goes by.
Can people upvote or resteem a post months or years in the future? Does the support still gain Steem?
No, in 2017, on http://Steemit.com, I was not able to resteem (SHARE) posts, comments, articles, things that we write on http://Steemit.com, anything that was seven days or older. The RESTEEM button disappears after 7 days but you can still copy and paste the links to other websites or share them manually on Steemit as well.
Upvotes (LIKES) are paid out after 7 days. So, after that, even if you can click on the UPVOTE button, you will not get any money out of that as far as I know or that was at least the case as of 2017 and still is now in 2018 as far as I know.
Thanks for your input, but it sux if I can't claim rewards later. I've been active on Steemit to establish an identity and make friends, but I've been practicing my posting and HTML skills with some newbie posts. I have some valuable unpublished scientific discoveries to share and I'm glad my posts will live in perpetuity.
Agreed, it can be tough to gain rewards before deadlines. Love science.

How do you feel about those paid resteem accounts? Would I benefit by following one of those upvoters or resteemer services? I could afford a few SBD or Steem if it will help in the long run. Is that considered good practice for a newbie, or is it like cheating?

I've been mostly lurking here on steemit for about 6 months. I have big plans but I have been to unmotivated to actually take action and start posting content for fear of failure. That changed yesterday when I read your https://steemit.com/steemit/@yallapapi/mmmm-yeah-baby-put-it-in-my-reward-pool article. I felt motivated, and committed, to actually making my first welcome post. That will happen today, watch for it please.
Long story short, you have inspired me and I plan on being a loyal deciple of yours. The way I see it... your steemit Jesus ready to help people free themselves from the shackles of laziness and ineffectiveness.
I've made one low quality post in the past, trying to make money/test how votebots work. But unfortunately I did only succeeded in testing.... I lost money on that post. Please help me by providing more insight on to effectively use votebots. I checked your wallet history and noticed you spent about 375 SBD on this post and made note what bots you used.
For someone, who is not confident enough to put up 750$ to promote my post would you sudgest more resteem bots to gain exposure? I don't really expect to make it to the trending page with a small wallet like mine. Most I will spend promoting my content currently would be about 50 SBD. But if I don't lose money my confidence to put more and money into promoting myself will increase.
Waiting for it...
Master procrastinator. Keep pushing me, I need that :P I am planning on getting her done tonight bud. I seen your newest post, shark lesson #1 so I will have to give that a read before I jump on it.
Did I just read the phrase "Steemit Jesus". How dare you sully the good Lord's name like that. Plus...I already called dibs.
Dibs, LOL sorry about that but isn't Jesus one of the popular names in the world along with Mohamed. Just Saying.... not trying to be offensive but was using the reference as an analogy for a religious leader embraced by the masses.
haha....don't worry about offending me. I am anti-religious. I believe Jesus, Mohammed, and Kyle are the three most popular male names. lol. I think Kyle, Keith, and Martin might be whitest names on the planet.
Wow you definitely held my attention all the way through this post. I have been feeling very defeated by this platform lately I just started reading up on the ins and outs of the platform and I came across this post. Looking forward to learning more from you. My particular interest is promoting my art photos and other multimedia work. I'm not going to lie I am terrible at self promotion and explaining my work. For years I focused only on creating work thinking it would speak for it self, but I realize that's just not the case. If you by chance read this I would be interested to know what your thoughts are on the promotion of work that is geared more to the visual aspect then the written? Thanks for the great information I look forward to reading more
good film good post nice
/{ ° = ° }\
wow,, what can benefit from SharkSchool !??
hahahaha
To think that I read this very long post(something I never actually do) and laughed in some parts, had some A-ha moments at some point and a Wow or so a few times is worth giving the #sharkschool a go.
I was reading and following intently with hopes that there'll be a link somewhere in the post that'll take me straight to the school.
I mean, I almost couldn't wait to start scooping from your well of knowledge.
Please I'm so in for this baby....
I'm freaking tired of being a little fish who just for no reason has refused to grow.
Thanks so much for this initiative.
awesome, time to find Dory and Nemo
