RE: Work Will Win When Wishy Washy Wishing Wont

in #steemit8 years ago

I like this posting it's good info. But the "no such thing as a free lunch" thing is tired and I wish it would go away. It's supposed to say that somewhere in the pipeline someone ELSE had to work for what you've got even though it was given to you freely.

Lately it's been co-opted to mean, "get off your lazy ass an go do something if you want to eat".

You see the meaning has been flipped on it's head. The original meaning was about respect and gratitude. The new meaning is about fending for yourself.

I recognize that people need drive and ambition, but telling people that the reason their whatever didn't work out is because of a lack of drive and ambition has the opposite effect.

They think to themselves, "But I did try! And I failed! I must just not be good enough".

I once had a talk with a motivational speaker, he was famous for motivating people to get off their butts and go do stuff. You want to motivate people, telling them that they are being a leech (even if they are being a leech) isn't going to motivate them.

You have to talk to their goal centers and get them to visualize being successful. That's the secret to every successful person out there. They were first able to see a successful person when they look in the mirror.

Once you have that mindset, then the rest of the journey begins to fall into place because your drive and ambition surface naturally.
Great post though! I upvoted it because on the whole I agree with you.
