Means Something VS Makes $omething .
I have been on Steemit for a few days now and I have noticed two distinct feeling in myself. When I post something on here I want it to mean something to others. I get disappointed when I see people up vote my post but didn’t read it. I know I want my posts to make money but what I really want is that the time I spend creating these posts to impact someone. I also would love to make money writing on topics I feel passionately about, but what I want more than making money is an audience that cares about what I post. I make a point to only follow people who I actually find interesting and hope that the people who follow me want to read my posts. I understand that a segment of the Steemit community are here primarily to game the system. This is not my desire.
I started the Steemit journey by investing $700 in Steem, which I locked into Steem Power because I felt I wanted to invest into the platform and also show the community I am serious about my commitment. I know I have only been here a few days and my experience is limited but I hope I can generate a following of people that actually read my posts. I also understand that the quality of my writing is a key factor as is my ability to produce writings worth reading. I hope I can demonstrate to you all that I’m here to add to the community first and foremost. Thank you for your time and consideration.
I know what you mean, I am the same, whilst I love the rewards, I get a bit sad when I see a post has 50 votes but only 8 views and 2 comments. Especially when I've written one that I think will spark lots of debate.
All in all, I can't complain because I do get a lot of attention; however at the moment I am just trying to engage with people who like you, enjoy engaging and want to read and comment on other people's posts.
Keep it up, it will happen for you soon, you have the right attitude.

It is even more of a challenge for me as I am an introvert that likes to teach people stuff. I really want to get seen lol, and heard, paid would be nice but not as important.
On a side note have you tried any of the Modafinil alternatives like Adrafinil?
I've tried Armadafinil is that what you mean? It's basically the same thing, but smoother

I was looking for less controlled versions of Modafinil, because at this point I'm not sure of the legality of ordering any of them and having them sent to me here in the States.

I am also new here like many.
I find reading other content, especially reviewing "hot" posts is a good way to learn. But you are correct many come for just the money, and leave when it does not fall or arrive from the ether, just because.
Finding something interesting that you want to present to the community, which you will be rewarded for, is a challenge but one worthy of the time spent doing research & learning from others who have succeeded.
Investing cash up front is one approach but not an option for many, and perhaps not necessary. Time learning can be an equal 'investment'

Welcome Jason! Looks like you're off to a good start. I've been here since late July, so I'm new too. Nothing changed for me until I started "getting out there" and commenting on other posts and getting to know people in steemit chat.
I usually avoid reading posts with huge blocks of text like this one. I would have broken this up into three paragraphs, with headings to liven things up a bit and avoid eye fatigue.
I'm no expert, but I started a "Steemit Tips" series written from a new user's perspective, and there are many other resources available on Steemit.
