Personally, I am not for this idea for a number of reasons.
I think we need to move towards a working relationship between SteemIt, Inc. and the community and hammer out issues like gathering consensus before this could be seriously considered.
At this point, the goal is decentralization, which I support.

I think for a group that controls about half of the Steem, they have shown themselves to be very committed to making steemit a very democratic and representative platform. They have also pledged to slowly dissipate the Steemit account holdings in pursuit of developing the platform, which means a better distribution for everyone
Decentralization is important for everyone, but so is sufficiently motivating the team that makes this platform possible. There is a balance to be struck between decentralization and organization so we all have a superior product to be on and express our views without obstruction or censorship
But this platform can only be maintained and improved by the concerted effort of Steemit Inc from a technical standpoint
Yes, I was talking about procedure, not personalities. There is still much to be worked out to be able to alter the current relationship.
Maybe these things can be done concurrently, if this is a good idea, it should be looked at irrespective of whether or not communication between Steemit Inc and the broader community needs to be improved
Perhaps when communities come around, we can have a suggestions community and communication can be easily organized and voted on then. In the meantime there just going to be odd posts like this hoping to draw some attention and gauge consensus
Maybe it could be done concurrently, I will follow the other responses for various opinions.
Seems to me there are other changes on the "roadmap" first and economic changes coming already. The liquidity of SteemIt, Inc will have to be addressed at some point. (nothing to do with personalities) Although at this point this would not be a serious consideration for me, I am interested to see how people respond. Thanks for the "food for thought".
