What we have is a voluntary society filled with people who earn something of value through some sort of contribution. It is up to the entire community who receives rewards for what type of contribution. The society can never be "broken" it is just a reflection of the values of the people currently engaged in ths society.
Each person pays others a value based on their ability to pay and whatever other criteria they want to consider. Each person can only give away whatever share they own. Since we all own our share we can use whatever tools the society builds or provides to earn for themselves and distribute future earnings. Nobody can force anyone to use a tool or not use a tool.
One person might think quality is the most important thing. Another would want everything orderly and neat. Another might put the priority on a specific type of content or behavior and choose to reward that. Some might like everything to be even and fair, while another likes competition. Some people like things bright and colorful and they don't mind a bit of a mess as long as it creates something interesting.
I think you see where I am headed. I think after a year and three months, I have finally accepted (again) that everyone here has their own agenda, their own goals, dreams and fears, and desires to push the site toward our own visions. It is just that many of us have a different vision.
The tools we use to shape this space are our votes, flags and voices, and suddenly completely sober at 1 am it seems so simply perfect. Don't worry tomorrow I will be controlling, judgmental and tell you how I think you should act again. (in order to meet my goals) lol.
Will it be successful? I don't know, I guess we all have different visions of what success is.
Okay, tell me why I should accept your judgment of what SteemIt is supposed to be....
I believe many different people will have many different ideas of what Steemit is, and of what it will become. But that's one of the great things about this platform.
Those who want a logically ordered forum of in-depth, quality-content posts will work towards making that type of platform. Those who would prefer a site full of memes and quick news bites will work towards that end.
Most likely, both of those types will succeed to varying degrees, as will various other types. And all of them will co-exist side by side. That will ultimately make for a vibrant platform replete with all kinds of information.
Granted, that might include some (or many) posts of questionable significance or doubtful quality, but hopefully that kind of post will remain peripheral.
Full Steem Ahead.
Yes, I got frustrated with all the "shit posts" for a while also. Then I got over that and focused on some new imagined problem. That is part of how we attract different types of users, by being different types of users. :)
One of our tools is flags, so we can also use that tool to help move content where we think it deserves to be.
I see your point, and I approve of the designation "shit posts." But on this free and open platform, it's probably impossible to avoid them.
However, Steemit is a meritocratic platform, so most of those who post insignificant crap will most likely fall by the wayside. Hopefully.
I doubt that we can flag all those shit posts. I sure would not want to spend time doing that, and they may not even really be flag worthy.
Whatever, it seems that Steemit has enough people producing quality content, and they are the ones who will merit upvotes and Steem Power. Let's all work towards that end.
Sounds like a plan to me. The more users we have and the better our tools get, the easier it will be for end-users to create a custom feel to what we see. (I hope)
Right. And while now many of the quality posts get lost or abandoned in the vast STrEEM, we might be able to turn the tables, such that the shitposts get lost in a grand STREEM of quality posts.
Then, those Steemians who produce quality material will have good reason to remain on this platform, while those who don't will (hopefully) realize that there's not much point for them to hang around and earn only cents / week. Then they'll go back to F_c_Book.
Thereafter, Steemit will dazzle with pure brillance, or at least a very good semblance thereof. Onwards!
Well said. Everyone has their own agenda and everyone is angling for their own gain, which I think often gets misconstrued in a negative light.
For example, I think self-upvoting is perfectly reasonable. If what you're posting doesn't warrant your own vote, then why should it warrant anyone elses?
steemit is supposed to be the best content platform from the outlook
well it is but i guess 80:20 rule apply here, 20% of users decide about 80% of rewards :)
While it is true the distribution could be better, I guess it still reflects the opinion and goals of those who "own" it.

different society shaping the different worlds
That is why i do the things which make me happy :) and steemit is one of them
Well i do think that everyone has their own agenda but after the day we are all part of the community we should make our own contribution and enlarge it for the sake of the build up of the community even more !
Like they say more the merrier!
Steemit from my point of view was is and will be a great idea... there are certain issues in some postings, begging, etc. that need massaging, but this is an innovation that's time had come.
I think that Stimet should be at least for the fact that we are all people, and a person can not without society, and our society is created that would not just communicate, but also earn the right you wrote to someone you like. So the flag will put, someone will vote, on this all and keeps, we are all different, but a lot of us help each other. Do not forget about the general horizon. The knowledge that we receive from good posts will remain in our heads, we are still learning.

I think that Steemit is something different for each person, for some it is a way to earn some money, for other people it is a means to express themselves or to be known, others just want to write, and some only look for a place to spend their time. Steemit is all those things, I do not see why it has to be a definite one.
Without society, people are not that, and our society still gives us the opportunity to earn, and many of us are here for that. For many, this is the chance to live better. Thanks for the excellent post.
Don’t tell me what to do!!
I like to write about history and mystery. The organization i work in as a web content writer, donesn't feature this sector of writing. I have been writing my thoughts and knowledge on other platforms and blogs, but it couldn't satisfy me - people didn't seem to care that much, and there was no financial gain whatsoever. But on steemit, the response i receive is quite satisfying - and i figured it will increase day bay day if i keep working here. The money i'm getting, it's not much - but it's something - and as per my observation, it will also increase by time. Writing contents about my favorite topics that people actually reading and responding, plus, a firm probability of making a decent money out of it : I'm in heaven man!
That's the greatest thing, right? Like it said in the picture from the post: Doing what you like is freedom, Liking what you do is happiness.
let's be free and happy here :) welcome to steemit
Hi @whatsup glad to see more and more people from the old gang. OF COURSE steemit is perfect and OF COURSE steemit will be successful because we will keep it alive!
Loving what you do is orgasmic
@whatsup - 'I think after a year and three months, I have finally accepted (again) that everyone here has their own agenda, their own goals, dreams and fears, and desires to push the site toward our own visions.'
Like 5 fingers of hand differ from each other we all have differences..... But ma'm we all want to see a big picture with Steemit.... With SMT sometimes we can see the biggest picture in next year.... Anyway ma'm you are addicted to Steemit ;)
+W+
Hello @whatsup
For me i think steemit is a social media space, where people come strictly for the reward, if not for the reward they would have remain with facebook.
While I think it is important to many, there are those here practicing their writing skills, or who want to promote ideas. :)
Yah! That is true @whatsup. Even me There are things that are interest to me that i am accidentally learning on steemit not just the reward.
Absolutely great points you showing. Steemit is most valuable platform more than other social medias. steemit giving more opportunities for earn more profits & rewards. Also I can find important cryptocurrency trends and update news of all cryptos. Its help to easily investment and trading. Otherwise best opportunity to search valuable projects articles from here like as adventures and cultures any countries.
As my mind steemit is biggest media platform i have ever seen.
@whatsup,
Steemit is the best platform to earn a decent amount of crypto by the ability of blogging! If we do well, then we could earn a good income from this platform and for me this is amazing!
Cheers~
From my point of view, steemit is an amazing platform that can help you express yourself.
I do know that the other social media is the same as this on expressing, but here in steemit I guess some people are giving their feedback or even comments on the topics that you are engaged with.
Nice post friend, i like to give upvote to each and every steemian present on steemit why because they use mind, electricity, fingers and energy they use their device and internet and it is administered by everyone, there every single word here is part of the ecosystem, in my opinion they deserve a lot more than that and i try to give them the most out of my stake worth, Yes, it is hard to keep my voting power relatively high but i try my level best to do most voting each day, Stay awesome.
Great positive message. I agree with most. There should be more tools and freedom to more easily find content we want to see, versus what's forced on us by the voting of others. I think we need more control of our feeds and the content pushed to us reduced so we can assign value based on our own due diligence. It's hard to find interesting content when the feeds are constantly pushing the newest and pumped trending stuff I feel, which buries the stuff I want to be able to more easily find. If I refresh, it starts all over again at the top.
It's like ad placement in my eyes. This and more search criteria would make Steemit much more perfect for me so I'm not forced to continue seeing what others with influence stick a the top or spammers push to the bottom.
I relate....it's a micro of the macro for good or bad which also means that there will be "wars" and people keeping some in check and some people you wanna hug and some you wanna slip lithium into their drinks but that's life. (I am not advocating slipping drugs into peoples drinks) Also, the "victim" card that gets pulled pisses me off because if you gonna pull it you better be a real one but again that and scams happen real life,
Also crushes, facepalm, good post
Wow how do you manage to fit in so much great content in one post
I would call that Steemit has Potential but its not Perfect yet.
As long Steemit will be developed it can be good.
Rememeber Myspace ,ICQ they disappeared as fast as they Mooned
great post and great thinking of steem, thanks for good post
I am new to the site steemit and I was impressed by the idea of signing an article worthy of reading tons that will soon surpass Facebook
Great works, I wish you success
Daily Learn some new from your post. Love to read it.
Steemit is great but isn't perfect!
Still we are in the Dawn of this technology and ecosystem that steem is . I think this can growth to substitute twitter, instagram and facebook.
And we being early adopters have some advantages when a wave of people come pouring in...
success or not it is not defined time will tell more about it
different visions is sometime great if they approach in an optimistic way
steemit to me is an innovative approach to bring out the best from anyone
this is not just regarding cryptos its about making a community
contribution from each and everyone is a beginning of a special journey and with steemit we are already on that phase
only few of the people work really hard to diversify where it will head towards in which direction the community wants
agendas are great till then when its not for hurting anyone sentiments
