Hey people of steem,
So I asked @ned why he was powering down and he actually responded. Personally. How cool is that? To those worried that he is jumping ship, he is not. He wants to move his stake around so people don't lose their shit when something happens. Look at the response he is getting from powering down. There are even an article about it from outside of steemit. I hope this helps put an end to this.
Here is his response to my question:
And here is the link to my post if you want to verify:

This brings me to another point of FUD. I know people are panicked, especially in this climate where the market is, lets just say, not doing too well. This was expected. It is still a bear market and it might get worse before it gets better. But you know how quickly things can turn. And you are going to be much further ahead if you built up your steem and account now than waited.
If you are wondering what to post keep posting quality content and run contests. Contests really spread out rewards and give direction to users who are not sure what to post about. If we can turn the trending page to a contest page it would be the only place on the internet giving away real cash prizes consistently.
And if you are reading this article outside of steemit setup a account. It is free to post and you can earn rewards for your work. It is the only place I blog on and recommend it for anyone who is established or wants to start their own blog. Plus there are some cool people on here.
And my respect to @ned for responding.
Counterfud! That is neat that he would be doing that. I have close friends sending me messages with the people losing their shit about this powerdown. At some point, I will power some down to pay some real life bills or spread my stake around crypto as well. Probably not til in the thousands of SP but maybe a point where someone would notice. So, to those people, don't lose your shit when I do.
Until then, I am just following your lead and posting like it was $10 STEEM. Doesn't take too long to post and network and spread some votes around to the folks I follow.
Glad once again you are on my feed.
I only see more interaction and better content when market falls. Whales powering down at the right time is healthy! We need less whales and more dolphins!
I suppose you are right. I am struggling with the SBD rewards and population lately as a whole but I sure have discovered and spoken with several people I will support on an ongoing basis. Never really actually paused to think that whales cashing out means selling at reduced prices to the dolphins.
Wish I had more FIAT to snap it up.
And I am glad to have you :)
This is great news to hear him say something. I understand as he should diversify where he holds his stake for security and his assets for his own financial security as well.
I took my last contest to trending and had a great result! Its a way of powering up, and I think I might do it again ;p
I think all of the 'fud' was just the community's way of having something to amusingly speculate about...considering the centralized banks are a huge factor affecting the crypto economy. I've been reading recently that the goal of banks is to invest in crypto, in order to destroy crypto.
It's good that @ned took the time to reply to the comments generated by his most recent post...lol...It was fun while it lasted....
I wouldn't ever have known he was powering down had someone not mentioned it...And, truth is, while I'd miss the Steemit platform if it shut down, newbies should know that there are other platforms, and the STEEM in your account would still exist on the blockchain.
So, now if we all, (self included), will just go back to minding our own business...lol...staying in our own lane...we'd do well.
Peace.

Introducing a "contest page" is a great idea, @ned make it happen, captain! :P
Awesome. Yup. I’m powering up constantly. Glad @ned responded though I wish he would be a tad more hands on here on the platform but it is what it is.
Stop worrying @ned is a smart man
Tipuvote! :)

really just don't look the prices. Then there will be no panic. keep doing what you were doing as @whatageek says and enjoy interacting with others. That way you won't even understand when prices rise again!
@ned is a cool guy. I was once taught by my grandma that greatness should actually make one to be more humble instead of vice versa.
Your advice is cool too @whatageek. We ain't giving up yet, not now and not even in the future. I have enormous trust in this platform.
Is Steemit just another corporate.cia scam ? https://steemit.com/steemit/@vaerospace/steemit-is-tanking
It is nice to see the CEO of steemit show such humility and respect as to address tue community's concerns. I must say he has my respect right there.
This medium has helped to express ideas and share knowledge ... but it has changed many lives and it is an economic contribution ... personally I am Venezuelan and the situation is not easy and this platform has given me the opportunity to share my ideas and have a reward for it
Congrats this post is featured on Joy's Steemit News!
