Can You Please Be Respectful :)

in #steemit6 years ago

Hey people of steem,

Just some advice/request from a user who has been here for some time. Please do not attack other people on this site. It is pointless and hurts everyone on here. We are all on the same team. Everyone who uses this site is working on building steemit. Regardless of how much steem you have you want it to go up in value. And you going out of your way to post negativity is not what we need here. Yes as cheesy as it sounds can't we all get along :p.

Yes I agree we need changes on here. 100%. We need to spread out the voting power more to encourage the promotion of quality content. And if you want to make a critical post about changes we should make please go ahead. The same as if you are not happy with bots and feel there are better ways to improve the system. A healthy debate about steemit and its direction are important. But please do not attack people while you do it.

You may not like someone is making a lot of money for a meme or people are using bots. But that is how the system works at this time. People are allowed to self-vote and use their steem as they wish. Yes people should run more contests and spread out their vote more but they are acting in the rules of the system. If you have a problem with it then work to change the system. I plan on running a bunch of contests and encourage others to do the same.

That's just my two cents, we are all in the same boat :)

I agree @whatageek . whining, crying and complaining gets nobody anywhere ! Solutions are being worked on , and once possible will be implemented. I started a contest now in its 6 th week to share food photos in my weekly #foodboasting Photo Contest for sure contests are a good way to get noticed and earn followers which is great for minnows and the community, plus you can possibly win some steem or steem dollars to help out those wallets! thanks for sharing , upped and resteemed!👍👍👍

Thanks and great work with the food contest, that is what we need here

Your welcome! and thanks for your awesome reply back @whatageek !✌👍😊

We are all in this together from High School Musical plays

Have you noticed how the conflicts between people on the platform seem to accentuate when the price is going down but everyone is happy and loves each other while the prices are going up?

We all have to learn how to move on and work together to make this place work and be successful, i understand the frustration some people get at how long the updates take to come out, but coding takes time, especially when you are creating all-new stuff for a technology that is barely starting to blow up, this is the bleeding edge of blockchain tech and it takes time to develop... coding is hard yo' especially when you can't go to stack overflow and figure it out with people that have done it before you :^)

True words of wisdom. The best thing about steemit is that it give an ownership to all its user. So this platform belongs to us. Together we make it more amazing. We all belongs to different origin. We have lot of differences beside our culture, traditions, religions and color. Beside all the difference we should give respect to other point of view. It's better for this community. We all have one aim to bring this community upto the top community. For this purpose we should remain respectful and don't be disrespectful to any person. There are lot of unjust act happen there. All we need to raise voice but remain respectful with our words and gestures.
We should learn a slogan

Together we will win

Thanks for sharing @whatageek

I agree people seem to get emotional when discussing the problems with Steem, but we need to be careful that we aren't attacking people with very valid opinions just because we don't like what they're saying (the truth hurts).

There is no denying that Steem has problems, but let's be real here: many of the problems on Steem are not problems that can easily be solved. They are problems that are going to require people to really roll up their sleeves, notably, the witnesses are the ones with the power to change things (and thus far, have not done anything I am aware of).

One thing I have noticed is the people making the posts about the sad state of Steem are the users with little Steem Power or funds. The users who are fighting back in the debate are the whales with large amounts of Steem Power, who don't like their dominance and wealth being threatened.

Just like there are class systems in real life, they're also on Steemit. And it's all well and good to promote the American dream of "work hard and you'll succeed" but we all know that it's highly unlikely unless you're willing to invest real money into Steem, that you'll ever get to whale status without using bots or delegations.

we are all in the same boat

We are all in the same boat, some of us are just down in economy-class at the bottom of the ship (who will drown first) while the rich whales are at the top enjoying champagne as we steer right into a field of ice.

And as the boat begins to sink, while we are all in the same boat, the rich people get out first (powering down) on their lifeboats while those at the bottom drown as the boat begins to bow and fill with water, drowning the lower class citizens.

We need to respect those who made it but also make it easier for new people to make it.

Well said @whatageek
Harmony and peace is what we need now on steemit for this platform to grow. Although we minnows are finding it hard to grow.
Imagine me putting 5hours in creating a quality post and ended up with a 0.02 upvote, it is discouraging and heart broken. Many friends of mine have quitted but i refused to hoping that one day luck and favour would shine on me.
I have no problem with self upvote or using bot because that is how the system works and I am happy people are progressing with the use of bot too. One day I will progress.

exactly, I totally agree with you.

The value is in the community.

As a guy once said on YouTube this guy, anyone who loses time attacking or discussing unnecessary nonsense on the internet is telling himself he is a loser, time is valuable and if you use time on something as impractical as being negative with other people, it means that your time is not worth anything and therefore neither is you.

we hope to undergo the steemit in a healthy way without not harming others, to support each other to be equally successful it is more beautiful, may someone who likes to attack others get rewarded

in debate- when you are arguing a point you address the topic - never attack the individual (this would be an #error. It would be an understatement to say that we have really gotten away from that fact today....

Well said!

how does one attack me on this site? and how does it hurt me?
if that where the case, i would have some srsly problem i should attend to.

So good thinking. I agreed with you. Thanks shared sweet words.

What is sad on steemit is that attacking might nor only be in words. but people can start flagging off your payouts if they don't like you :(

Interesting... I think we need to start to encourage people to curate quality content.
Authors, however, must undertake to respect their curators in two steps:

  • Don't upvote their own post within the first minutes after publishing a post, but at least they wait till that was 30 minutes;

  • They are free to use bid bots, but wait at least an hour after you publishing a post.

For example:

es.jpg

.....not a good thing.

what do you think? I once did a POST on it.

That is an example of a system change you can recommend. Self-voting is one discussion but I would say the author should get the bot money as they are the ones who paid for it.

That's a good point, @whatageek. I'd like to reflect on this.. Thanks for your answer.

Thank you for the respectful response :)

I'm not here to pick a fight or to judge.. I like to get all points of view. ;-)

Nice to hear some sense.
