voting bots are harmful to the platform.
please tell us how?
We need to find a way to reduce the utilisation of these bots or they could make steem full of crap and bad articles
As a relative newcomer to Steemit, I can see the pros and the cons from the bot side. Reddit was originally seeded with tons of fake bot users to encourage activity and usage among real users. In the long term I think they will need some curtailing but in the short term I believe that it helps newbies like me get exposure on our hard working posts.
For instance, I work incredibly hard on our posts writing 100% original content on addiction, life and recovery posts. They very rarely, if ever, get seen and so I rely on bots to help encourage activity on them from others. Otherwise, how else would it appear that the content has some activity on it?
I like the detail you've put in to this post and also the willingness to look at both sides of the coin. Thanks for the insight. Let me know what you think.
I look at the up-vote bots as post promoters. If you want to get your post noticed, use an up-vote bot to bump up the vote.
How do you feel about your 34.61% buildawhale and $29.90 minnowbooster upvotes?
Oh its great loving it and and hopefully more bots can give bigger returns and up-votes

It's Sad but its true!
very nice article mate, you've hit on a raw subject for a lot of people. I generally don't use the bots much, but if I've had a string of really poor payouts I might use them occassionally.
I think the bot interaction needs to be moderated similar to the post I just did in terms of reputation building.
But you have to consider those that use the bot that "do" give out good quality content that doesn't get exposures. As time goes by, it will be harder for good content creator to show on the trending/hot list. If that's the case, people will tend to lose hope on posting on the site. They might ask, why should I post if my great quality content isn't getting the upvotes it suppose to have. They might also think that, other oddly and not so much good quality content are up there and getting their over valued upvotes. My two cents on the bots. Of course, your point of view is also good to consider.

There are more comments there from people who are against the bots.
Bots are tools to be utilized, use it to our advantage and if not performing that's when we dump it.
It's impossible to ban bots so we will need to learn to live with them. I hope bot writers are responsible and think about how their bots affect the community. Steem is a social network and derives its value from human interaction. I'm in favour of bots that enhance the abilities of humans to be more human (convenience tools). This place will not survive if the humans leave though.
I'm about to post about AI on Steem where I go into a little more detail about these ideas.
Bots are definately a thread to steemit, I hope the creators/developers will do something to prevent the precense of bots in the future, i think the concept of rewarding good content definately has a future, however; if this kind of fraud will become a regular thing i wont be optimistic about the future of steemit.

I really hope bot activity can be limited, its much better to interact with and have input from actual HUMANS rather than automated nonsense. At the end of the day an algorithm to post messages isn't to going to give anyone much gratification. Feel free to let me know what you guys think, if you disagree let me know why. Open to others views :)
OK.... just a thought....
Why not make the general rule:
NO SELF UPVOTING WITH THE BOTS.
Leave it for others to reward each other with the mega upvoting bots, especially for the Whales out there, this way they can use these to reward others and not spend a lot doing it.... hence making it all happen in the "true nature" of the ideal!
i.e. joblo pays for a post made by him, it becomes a donation to the bot, end of story
& the Whales can then utilize these bots more, so that their upvotes become really big (for others) without using all their money
If I had 2 million SP, I would use all the upvote bots when I see a post I like
that way my money goes a lot further
and I can still use my regular upvotes for what I want to do
I guess I'm a dumb romantic
No self up-voting rule using your account or a bot will not work because people have other accounts as well.
I can be a whale and just keep up-voting my other accounts.
Yeah, I see what you mean.
very good

Nice post :D
Its controversial. You yourself are using bots to boost this post 😁. Majority of the world are thinking how they will benefit and do whatever they think, can help them grow which ever way.
In contrast, we have started a charity bot , which will give free votes and encourage people to write less but write great original content.
very good

Bots drain the reward pool to a post with a photo of potato and it looks great for the author i think
You might want to have a read at this too :) https://steemit.com/steemit/@webcoop/bots-we-are-draining-the-steemit-reward-pool

your idea i really loved we donot need bot we need human work that will be always a future great work
Post about Bots. Denouncing Bots. While utilizing Bots.
There's good points in the post I'm not actually against it.
The image serves a purpose also.
You won't be independent of that which you won't let go of.
Plus many can't do without that Bot lactose.

Very nice comments there as well.
Yeah cheers. I'll check it.
Agree that some bots are good.
This debate has existed for a while now and will only intensify. Part of the game of Steemit is to call upon the bots. Specially when one is starting out and even more so now that the rewards pool is becoming smaller. When the system = votes = rewards = 7 days... exploits become inevitable.

Good bot Bad bot
Should it be death to all bots?
Maybe we can make a bot army to fight the bad bots.
Bot vs Bot
Maybe we could sell tickets?
Im in the development design phase on a emp gun that will deactivate physical bots in years to come, if you would like to add to the design research feel free to steem my account. :-)
Definitely, I hate bots.
I think the upvote bots did this post a really good service.
Boleh menggunakan bot, tapih jangan salahberi pekerjaan untuk bot,,,
hati hati kalau bot melawan..
Yes the technologie she will destroy the humanity, is idiot humans who have created the techno who will the kill . ( sorry for my bad english but i am french and I learn english ).
Bidbots are actually human (or humans) with a different alias. I wouldn't really call them bots meaning they are A.I.
