There is no spiritual magic to having happy thoughts. If that is the sense in which you understand this principle (not a law, and some folks think of it in terms of magic), then you aren't being reasonable, to my understanding.

However, if you hold goals, and, as you have stated, ACT to achieve them, visualizing success, you will be more successful.

You can test this, scientifically. Proceed several different ways to gain $100. Be certain you will get it, and just keep wishing for it. Set a time for the goal to be realized (otherwise it's not a goal), and record the results you achieve. Then, try a second way. Be certain you will get it, and go out and find ways to get it. Try several different ways, getting a job, selling stuff, begging, whatever.

Test out your ideas. Tell folks what you are doing, to gain their advice. Try some of their advice, and record your results. Repeat each method more than once, in two different ways: one in which you imagine all the things that can go wrong, and try to figure out ways to prevent those from happening, and the other in which you imagine yourself succeeding easily.

If you do this, and repeat this process several times to rule out flukes (and it may take a couple months if you take only a week to try each time) you will prove to yourself how best to proceed to realize your dreams, and you will also find out which ways you prefer.

You will find how the 'law of attraction', which is really about learning how to visualize success, from which we learn how to achieve it, actually operates.

I expect no better education for a man of your experience might be found, and what you learn may empower you to reach any goal you set your mind to.

Edit: also, if you do this for three months, you should get at least $600, assuming half the ways you try won't work. However, some of them will work way better, and you should most likely realize multiples of that in three months.
