The maximum I earned from one of my comments at Steemit till date is $12.91.
Today, we'll learn which comments get more upvotes and how to do these comments. However, first I want to show you my comment that earned the most earnign for me during the last 60 days. Here is a print screen of that comment:
A majority of Steemians is not doing the commenting in the right way so mostly, they are earning nothing from this activity. Let's try to figure out which comments earn and which ones don't earn at all.
So, here are some examples of comments that potentially go ignored:
Here is another example:
The same commenting thread continues. Take a look:
The lady in this thread continues her commenting as a result gets some upvotes. She also mentioned me that helped me get some followers and eye-balls at my account. If I had continued commenting in this thread, I had definitely earned some more upvotes. The core is initiating a discussion and then taking it to the next level. You can earn upvotes by doing a single valuable comment and you can earn far more upvotes if you keep participating in the discussion.
Here is another commenting thread from the same post:
Now some people do these comments and as a result, mostly never get any upvote:
"Nice post."
"Good."
"Nice post. Upvoted and resteemed. Upvote back."
"What a great post! Thank you very much!"
"amazing, full detailed post"
SUM UP
You can earn on Steemit through blogging, commenting and upvoting. There are many users who think blogging is difficult. For them, commenting is a great opportunity to earn good money at Steemit. However, rather than posting 50 ineffective comments, it's recommended that you do just 10 good comments per day and try to ask a question relevant to the topic or you can also seek permission to ask an off topic question. The best comments are those that initiate discussions because this way, chances are you earn more.
I hope you find this article helpful. If you do the commenting right you can even earn more than $100/month. If you don't do it right, you will be earning nothing. So, be patient and spend some time on each and every comment you're writing. There are many Steemians who just post a line of comment just to be the first one on any blog post. These comments get ignored. Read the post and then comment. It will help you earn the upvotes.
Which one of your comment earned the most till date? Post its print screen in the comments.

Hey @asif4745. You have touched on an important subject. I believe that discussions that come after the post are very important. They are the things that make platforms social.
For me, the best rule for commenting is NEVER do it for the money. I comment when I feel the urge to do so.
Of course, I do still upvote my own comments because I think they are good and because I want them to be visible.
Sorry! That was a copy-paste mistake. I had commented on his post earlier.
It's alright.
pocketsend:100@sadekj, indeed, commenting just to elicit upvotes tends to lead to shallow and uninteresting comments. But good commenting is hard. People do not have it take that much time for a good conversation. One really needs to get into the right mind set before starting the exercise of commenting.

Thanks for using POCKET! I am small bot and right now I am running this code.
Thanks for the comment but who is @asif4745?
Good commenting is not hard if you forget about the money and upvotes and remember that you are talking with real people.
Thanks for the pockets.
This is definately interesting, making a good post about earning money though comments. I personally like to reward everybody that makes an effort to make a comment or initiate a discussion - the spambots I ignore.
It is a bit sad though, like @ironshield mentioned that nobody here gets an upvote. Guess this isn't the place to leave well thought out comments, or start discussions. What's your take on that @ugetfunded, I'm interested.
Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. You got a follower.
Don't be sad. I answered that above. Please take a look. We all are growing together. So cheer up!
Thanks for your answer - I find it an interesting discussion and I am trying to help out here, as I really enjoy this platform.
Consider this analogy: say you're writing a post: "hey guys, you can earn bucks by shaking the right people's hands" and ten people come to you and offer to shake hands with you and you say: "thanks, I appreciate it" but you don't shake hands.. It's just a really ironic thing to post :)
I understand you have small voting power. I have too, but I feel generous with it, even when it wasn't worth $0.01 I upvoted good posts, and certainly replies to my posts.
But everybody's free to use his/her voting power as he/she wishes of course. So, take care and enjoy!
I am glad you figured it out, I am lucky to get a penny.
@cryptoforce I just dropped some upvotes on your page and hit you with a follow ššÆāØļø May our pennies all multiply šš„š
Probably if you comment to make money you WON'T make money :)
Just comment if you have something interesting to say that can add value to a discussion. Otherwise the risk is ending up with 90% of comments just from parasites looking to get some pennies.
Hi @illusio, A word to the wise. You have pointed out something very important. Those who pay heed to it will move in the right direction. Keep up the good work. You got a new follower. Steem on!
@ugetfunded I really think steemit is unique due to the sheer friendliness of the userbase! Name 1 other app where people from all over the world welcome you when you join šš I also get a very good-hearted and intellectual vibe from the users here. Thanks for making this post so people can stop spamming lame comments like "Great Post. Made me think. If you upvote and follow I will upvote and follow. Ok thanks."
ššš I literally will comment back "Don't spam that everywhere; It'll get you flagged!"
Hi @amvanaken, I can't agree with you more. Steemit is matchless and a future app. Thanks for you valuable comment. You got a new follower. Let's grow together. Steem on!
Thanks (: I returned the favor!
Woah, this is a very educative post, i think i have to start making quality comments and add values through my comments
I'm pleased to know that you found it valuable. Appreciate your comment.
I'm following you @ugetfunded , and I'm learning a lot from all your posts. Now I'm trying my best to comment on other's posts. Now how could you know your total earnings from all your comments for the month? Is there an App that can Help us on this?
Hi @joshvel, It's pleasure to know that you're finding some value in my posts. Thank You! Regarding payouts, I did another post that tells keeps updating you about your curation and author rewards. It also updates you on how much you earn in a week. You may check a detailed review on it here: A Very Useful Steemit Tool For All (Step By Step Review). Good luck!
I second this! Good job. I've been blogging only and recently got into commenting. I missed out on so much!
@aldentan, Don't worry. It's never too late to start anything. Just start doing it right and you will see the impact. Good luck!
For sure!
I get it @ugetfunded... it is about your voting power and brilliant comments. Not for few words person type. Thanks so much... learn something useful for a new steemian like me.
This is really a nice article because it's useful for just everyone. I will try most of them. Thanks once again man. Keep up the good work. Upvoted and Followed!
Hi @sarhyd, Thanks for your comment, upvote and follow. You got a new follower. Keep growing.
@ugetfunded : good tips there. But I think the number of followers as well as the mix of the followers (heavyweights or newcomer) play a big parts in the earning too. Just my 2 cents...
Hi @investopenly, Thanks for your comment. However, I respectfully differ with what you said. Number of followers has nothing to do with the upvotes one earns through commenting. When I earned $12.91 through a comment, it was during my first week at Steemit and I had a few followers at that time. I still have less than 400 followers but earning through comments. Happy commenting!
@ugetfunded : Good to hear that... Keep it up!
I totally agree. I have hundreds of followers and I don't know if I've ever gotten 100 upvotes on a post... A follower is not the same as a supporter š¤
I keep on learning through your informative and encouraging posts @ugetfunded .I hope to follow the rules and tips you share to grow on steemit platform gardually .Thanks for your knowledge sharing in a simple and helpful way .Keep rocking.
Always pleased to know that my posts are helping others. Thanks for your continuous support!
Today i knew why my comments gets unnoticed with no earning!! Thankyou so much @ugetfunded
I'm pleased to know that I was helpful. Good luck! Thank s for your comment.
you welcome
Thank you for this very good information. It is difficult to figure out the best way to earn. You have really helped by underlining the idea that we are participating in social media and just need to be "social" and "real" in our conversations here just as if we were visiting with one another in our homes.
Hi @team101, Thanks for stopping and commenting on my post. I appreciate it.
A post about receiving upvotes for comments, and hardly a single comment is upvoted on this post. @ironshield
@ironshield, When you comment for making money you never make money. Check what @illusio said above. I try to reward users if they take time to read my posts and comment by following them, resteeming their posts if the posts are valuable and sometimes by upvoting. One factor, that you should keep in view is that I myself am a new comer to Steemit as it's been less than 2 months that I started blogging here. So, I still don't have much of steem power that I could distribute among people commenting here. I wish I could but at this time, I can't. As soon as my voting power goes up a little bit, I will be rewarding my audience in a better way. So, be patient and stick around. Nobody can grow without lifting others, that's what I believe in! I hope it helps!
STEEM ON!
I didn't mean to sound critical or entitled. I just found it ironic.
I try to be careful about upvoting comment on my posts, even if its only a penny. I use a chrome extension for a vote slider, so I don't drain all my VP.
I wrote a post about how to get a vote slider.
https://steemit.com/steem/@ironshield/instructions-chrome-vote-percentage-slider-for-minnows
@ironshield
Thanks, having the slider is very useful, take care!
Was thinking just the same ;)
Well @marty-art, you have my upvote, anyway. @ironshield
I commented on this as well, I want to give him a fair chance to respond, otherwise I'll upvote you to the top :)
I gradually realized how important the comments are. I had neglected them before, or I just wrote nice words that did not say anything. I pay much more attention now, and I reward someone who writes meaningful and interesting comments. But I have serious difficulties with English because I am Hungarian and Hungarians are said to be the worst learners in foreign-languages. I'm trying, with more success than recently.
@kalemandra, English is a problem for a lot of people. Don't worry. Just keep trying. One day, you'll master it. Good luck!
i like this post, but i can't understand about how to get more upvote from our friend or not. and can you explain about good hastag we use ? thank you @ugetfunded
@abu.amann, There are some Do's and Don'ts that one has to keep in view before starting blogging at Steemit in particular. I did a recent post on the same topic. You might read it here and I hope it helps 10 Steemit Blogging Do's And Don'ts š.
I am going to try what you said on your post itself :P so my question is do you find any difference in using emojis in post titles vs not using emojis? I am an android developer and a study showed that using emojis in app descriptions got higher downloads
@subhankar-raj, In my view, using emoji can help you bring more eye-balls on your posts. So, keep using them. Thanks for your comment.
Discussion is the key! If one is here only to try and squeeze out some money, it really does not work like this. Getting deeply involved with the Steemit community by posting valuable content and comments will do better. Thanks for sharing this post so more users to know what is the purpose of Steemit. :)
I put lots of work in comments, and I comment a lot. Now after 6 weeks here on steemit, this is getting some results. So I truly agree with you. What does bother me is that loads of users do not even read their comments... So what people definitely need to consider is who they are commenting to. Because when you allready know people don't read them, there is no point.
Great contribution, and I truly am behind your vision, as I am implementing for 6 weeks now!
Upvoted and following you now!
Hi @pele23, Thanks for taking time to comment on my post. I appreciate it. I read all my comments and try to respond and even reward people the way I can through following them, resteeming their posts if their is some value in them or even by upvoting them. You got a new follower.
Tnx for that, I do post Some valuable material from to time, in my opinion that is.
Looking forward to following you too
This is really interesting. I'm truly enlightened. Looking forward to more of these
Thank You! Stick around as more coming your way!
I couldn't agree more with your article. I enjoy writing articles but I find myself slacking off in that aspect, at least until basketball season starts. That said, I have really been connecting with people on here in the last month or so I've been around by commenting on other posts. I have been able to find the authors that I enjoy reading and some YouTuber's that I already enjoy but have found again on Steemit. Ive also noticed when you comment on the topics that interest you, you will come across the same people because they are also interested in the same things. That has actually been what I think has created the best bonds with friends on Steemit thus far for me! Wish I you continued success and growth my friend, good luck!
@sixersfeds, Just a suggestion: Add a dp, it will help you many ways. Thanks for your comment.
Dp?
well that is very interesting...thank you for the post...maybe you could do another one with some more tips.....
@aassddf, Thanks You. I will do many posts on different aspects of Steemit. Stick around!
i got about 16.00 for one post but it has dropped off...is it getting harder to make monet on posting....
@ugetfunded God bless the hour i discover you in this community. This is your second post i am reading in the last one hour and it has been educative and insightful all along. Thanks for these eye opening information. You're the best.
these comments are hilarious; did anyone here read the post, or nah?
I love reading the content here on Steemit and naturally, if I find something to add to the post I will leave a comment and try to strike up a conversation. I never truly considered it a way to generate income but more of an attempt to engage in social interaction with others who are sharing ideas and thoughts that I find interesting. I think if a person uses common sense and knows how to hold a conversation then more often than not he or she will become more affluent whether online or in person. I don't get much out of simply saying, "Great post.", or begging for votes. I would much rather get to know the author and become online friends than sell out simply for a few chips!
What is the specific point system for commenting and replies? I understand upvotes to an extent and still learning more.
this is a useful article that i was searching since yesterday in order to know how steemit works. thanks for sharing. keep it up
