I completely understand your worries! I see more often that people look only on the title and an introduction and don't read the rest of articles :( - see Twitter.

I noticed that very often people are convinced they understand all political issues, but in reality, they read only 140 characters of tweets - they just don't bother to even open the links.

And here is the same - people are looking for a picture and short text - just to take a look and give upvote. If there is something longer / more valuable they don't even bother to scroll down.

In a long run, I believe that posting high quality values is much, much better. I'm new on Steemit but I see a huge, huge potential in the platform, and if you will be perceived as an informative, nice and intelligent person who add a lot of value here, you will get new followers exponentially :) But these are just my hopes! :)
