Clickbait doesn't work here on Steemit, which is just one more reason why I love it!

Clickbait is an evil, and disgusting thing, and I for one really really hate it!

In my old age, I've become so jaded from this type of marketing, that I hardly click on anything anymore.

I also have premium accounts for everything, so that I do not have to watch, or interact with adverts at anytime.

I have even stopped visiting websites for the most part, because every-time I do visit one, I am immediately bombarded with ads or pop ups, and in most cases... my fucking virus protection program has even warned me that they blocked something!

Fucking ridiculous in my opinion, which brings me to the point of this here article.

Most clickbaity shit is designed to get views, which usual translates into some type of monetary gain, but here on Steemit, if you get duped into clicking on something, and it was just shit content specifically designed to get you to click on it, you could flag them, and they will actually lose shit instead of gain!

Where else on the internet are you going to find such an anti-spammy place huh?

Then you have folks like Bernie, who go around and actively clean up the garbage and reward pool rapists, which makes the platform even better.

Oh, and one last thing before I go, if you have one of those up-vote bots, and your bot is up-voting whoever comments on your posts, you're the reason why those spammers are making money here on Steemit.

You know the ones, the: "Great post, I up-voted." types.

Simply tap or click here to enlarge the image above.

So if you're providing an income for these third worlders, you're part of the fucking problem here on Steemit... so cut that shit out!

Sort:

People like you help keep this platform from becoming toxic. It is always great to see people call out the problems we have on Steemit. Thank you and keep up the work.

Why thank you, but I do nothing compared to most, but I will do my best!

well, there are different ways to 'clickbait' the typical 'insert boobs or half-naked woman' does not work. however, I have seen posts do really well with an over the top image about what the topic is about.

for example, I have seen some1 say 'i made money on this coin' and then show a portfolio of 20k+ while he only invested 200 in it.

but yea steemit is way better then let's say Youtube.

Oh my Satoshi, don't even get me started on YouTube, but I must say... I do enjoy marking all those clickbaity type videos on YouTube as spam. Then I add them to my not-interested list, so that YouTube learns not to show me that shit anymore!

I think most sites opperate under the "principle" that all interest is good interest, even negative. I tried the not-interested button on Google adds. They keep coming back. My guess is that since you goi through the trouble of clicking to remove the add, it menas you looked and cared enough, which is what they want in the first place.

Ignoring them is probably the worst thing for these adds.

Ugh, you bring up an important point, which means that if you do or ya don't, you're still fucked either way!

yea, I keep getting recommended channels I never watch but apparently youtube think I watch them because of titles or the video preview.

the top10 videos are the worst... 'top 10 deadly animals' shows a picture of a movie monster lol. either they learn or they will be replaced :P

I fucking hate those, the 10 most dangerous sea creatures, and it has like a huge fucking monster on it... the worst!

and that monster is either from a book or another type of fiction. i have even seen a game monster been used as a thumbnail.

i don't mind the over exaggeration in the thumbnails and stuff just as long as it is about the topic and does not try to make something seem 'better' then it is.

As long as the image is relevant,I don't have a problem with it either. Now that YouTube is going all demonetization happy over there, a lot of this shit can't make money anymore, which will serve to clean up YouTube in the end.

yea, however, I have a friend that used to make about 1-2k USD/month from his channel (enough to pay for rent etc while studying) he gets the same amount of views and his videos do not get demonitized. however, he only makes about 500-750 USD a month now. so youtube's payouts have taken a really heavy hit in recent times.

i tried to make him move to steemit or D Tube but he don't want his followers to move platform sadly.

I also hate click bait it is ridiculous but I do understand why people do it. I get very agitated when I do click on click bait and I instantly leave no matter what the content is. I love it here on steemit.

I'm glad to hear it, and I totally understand why. The real sad thing about the state of the internet today, is you even have respectable websites such as Coin Desk using those "Woman gives birth to baby vampire" ads at the bottom of their articles... so sad.

So what did you find out, did she?

LMAO

I'm trying so hard not to click that... you have no idea! 😉

The problem I see is that these adds are on the increase. Many toimes you can't even find the X button, or it only pops up if you hover over the add, which means they got your attension. Well, of cousre they did, the damned thing blocks what you are trying to view.

I hear AdBlock works well, but I'm afraid to install it. I'm concerned that it would throw emails I need into spam. Did you ever use it?

Just use the Brave browser mate, it has all that good shit already installed, plus it is cryptocurrency friendly!

Ha ha yes very true click bait does not work here on steemit which is beautiful!! and those spammers god. I wish we could mark spammers so we could tell who the spammers are here.

You could just flag them if you want, but I personally just don't pay them any mind. Their comments are always on the bottom of my posts, because I always show love to my real commentators, so my system works out pretty well.

yeah well flagging works but I was thinking maybe have their name highlighted or something, so that even if we didn't see them spamming we would know they tend to spam.

Usually you could tell by their rank, if it's under 25, it's probably a spammer!

Where can you check the rank? Can you please post a link. Thank you

It's right next to your name bud.

Ah right right the reputation

I use Brave browser for a lot of my internet reads, including Coinmarketcap.com. It stops popups and side adds. ZeroHedge has become impossible to use because of so many adds. Using Brave is an easy way to avoid them. I notice clickbait here on Steemit, and many times is not boobs but catchy titles that lead to worthless posts. I made a point of not feeding the trolls. Do you flag these spammers on your blogs?

I use the Brave browser as well, but not nearly as much as I should.

You ever click something here on Steemit you thought was going to be interesting, then it is one sentence telling you to visit their website to read the article in question, and the rest of the article is all just referral links?

I fucking hate those posts!

Agree, and a lot of these are highly paid blogs.
There be some ugly fish in them waters...

Oh, and one last thing before I go, if you have one of those up-vote bots, and your bot is up-voting whoever comments on your posts, you're the reason why those spammers are making money here on Steemit.

wow. i can't believe i was featuredhere. thanks for acknowledging my contribution @tolkatore.

these spammers are raping the reward pool and there are tonnes and tonnes of them springing up daily.

i think rather than ignoring them, they should be flagged or downvoted

The word must get out there my friend, and I'm so glad to have you in the fight! We need to collectively combat spammers as often as we can, to get them to migrate over to something else.

honestly it leaves me in awe how someone would drain himself mentally, invest time and energy into putting a post and maybe its a 4-minutes video, in less than one minute after upload, you see a comment "nice video". like did you watch a 4 minutes video in 1 minute. and what baffles me is that most of this spammers are faceless.

sure! we would surely try our best oo get rid of as many of them as possible

Ha ha, faceless, which always cracks me up, because if you're trying to come off as real, wouldn't ya think that these people would take a few seconds to upload a profile image... such laziness.

Good-Fellows.gif

LAZY? hahahahahaha. but in split seconds, they comment on a new post..

this guys are just so sick. lol

ha ha ha! "nice post dear, upvote for upvote and follow for follow"
I now upvote people who tell these spammers to stop begging for votes :)

I don't blame you Lucy, which is a good tactic indeed to start encouraging more folks to start participating in anti-spam campaigns.

Without more people in the fight, more and more spammers will migrate onto the Steem blockchain, and because of the auto up-vote bots... will serve to continue raping the rewards pool in the process.

Bernie does his best but he seems to be the only vocal account on steemit calling out reward pool draining, are you aware of others?

I think currently there are more whales interested in hoarding the rewards than protecting it. But hey we are still in beta, this isn’t the finished product yet.

We definitely do have a whale problem, no doubt about that, but as more and more creative and popular people join the platform, those whales of old will become less and less significant.

As for another Bernie, I'm not sure, but it takes a lot to bring down some of these giants, and Bernie has the stones and the bankroll to do it!

Well that was the reason I invested $1,000 into steem power yesterday, I was frustrated that even with the starting delegated steem power, you can’t even generate $0.01 from a full power upvote. So new joiners can’t benefit from curation rewards or support their followers.

I appreciate it takes time to build up but i worry that a lot of new users get put off early.

Investing a little sure goes a long way here on Steemit, and the starting power is designed in such a way as not to be abused.

Agree we don’t need more ways for steem to be manipulated.

It’s all a balance, but we could have more verification to get an account and then slightly more intial delegated steem power. Anyway it’s all chat because I’m not a dev, but food for thought!

I think Steemit has a lot of calibrating to do as we go forward, which is the reason why they are keeping Steemit in Beta for so long.

Hey ....
Some days back i watching a movie in unknown site and it pops up with one click add ridiculous ... And new tab opened again and again and i let the tab to load and ... The tab was something like 'play this naughty game if you are only above 18' then a shut it ... The site download the unknown virus .. which disturb me again and again to do my work .. and i can't use my laptop with my family because the add damn it is about porn .. ...
Can you guys suggest me how to get rid of it ... Its annoying .. 😠😠😡😡😡

I know this is often not progressing to go well with some. however i'm obtaining sick and uninterested in hollow comments. I really like larva comments to the recent wave of stinking unrelated comments/spam
