Four (4) Keys To Open Connections on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Social media platforms are today's knowledge repos. In almost two years, Steemit has grown from a bloggers network to a content curation community serving digital citizens with vast amounts of information but presenting its relevance around specific themes. Well, it makes sense to Steemians, especially when they want to enjoy and benefit from the best material being shared to them. Knowledge-sharing, depending on a user's participation, should remain affordable but it's definitely engaging when it's free. So let's learn why Steemians like @jerrybanfield, Diana [@diana.catherine], and Jolly Pirate [@drakos], who have thousands of followers, are the leaders of open connectivism.

What's Open Connectivism Anyway?

If you're not a cyberian but you're still interested on gaining regular online readership, then read on and learn the importance of open connectivism. Check this out:

"Connectivism... sees learning as the process of creating connections and developing a network"

Thanks to @spaghetticode for posting its definition via his article Distributed Cognition and eLearning.

Let me simplify it for you. Connectivism uses data or information [aka content] as a handy tool to create connections. Now, open connectivism treat that content as a free product for consumers to interact on and share. And, co-Steemian, if you want to remain current to your audience, you'll have to make Steemit work for you. This high level of relevancy is beyond "likes" or "upvotes" and, for us to do that, you must keep your online presence open].

Four (4) Keys To Form Connections

Get content consumers with these four keys to form lasting connections and stay relevant to your online clique.

O — Opinionated Stance

For our Steemit blog to become a social hub, clearness of info by being forthright with our brand or product's descriptions is a must. We want to voice out something that's why we're sharing something but information is dynamic, it's constantly changing. We have to make our viewpoint or perspective as a leverage. We have to be assertive with our social content that it becomes influential, as it builds up interesting conversations, in the process. That certainly would keep our online presence everfresh.

P — Public Presence

Make it easy for your readers to find you online. Although some social platforms want to remain closed or secret (you have those on Facebook, right?), our public presence plays a more important role. So reach out to your audience anywhere in the world. Join trusted social media networks that can help boost your voice. Remember that your digital citizenship would allow you to participate in discussions on a worldwide level without the hassles of commuting.

E — Engaging Content

We, as Steemians, are assimilated into a culture of quality and change. Plus, the emergence of new social apps will make your content more accessible. Knowledge, as we know it, is hardly ever a product of one person. Each person is a participant in info-distribution yet they have the freedom to choose what they want to watch, listen to or read. But more importantly, information is more visible. We must not hesitate to say to our readers, "The content is completely yours!" They have to understand though that they need it. So encourage them to respond, give a feedback, whenever and wherever you share. Your audience will see what you've posted online and connect on it.

N — Niche in Life

You can engage a following not just by giving quality content but also by positioning your role and personal brand. It's easier to communicate an identity with a specific field of interest or genre that's familiar to users/consumers. Let's say you're a Superman or Hulk fan, your output would be superhero-based blog. When content is produced in this fashion, it wields enormous influence.

In this digital age, Steemians are extending their persona into a growing and thriving connected state yet with the whole world at large.
