It is allowed but steemvoter is prefered. MAW will check the voting after every post. Steemvoter is just an easy way to automate it and then the check the votes after the post goes live. We also don't want to send reminders to members every now and then. =)

I just created my steemvoter accounted and added make-a-whale as my first rule.
