Following reports of 130 suspected overdoses linked to synthetic drugs in New York last week, U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer introduced a bill that would ban 22 synthetic drugs.
While some synthetic cannibinoids are banned under federal law, people who make the drugs continually change the chemical compound to stay one step ahead of authorities, CNN reports. Schumer’s bill would outlaw variants of “K2” and “Spice,” as well as variants of the opioid fentanyl.
“New York’s most recent K2 binge that left our ER’s bulging and streets strewn with stupefied users with zombie-like symptoms are a sign of what’s to come if Congress doesn’t act quickly,” Schumer said in a news release.
Please lets just be reasonable and legalize the real drug, Marijuana! This is getting ridiculous the only reason people are resorting to these synthesized compounds (Which no real world experience or studies are done on, as well as personally we see tons of cases in the ER every month now at my hospital in Maryland) is because the real drug is illegal and people are being tested at their jobs for proof of its consumption which these synthesized products aren't tested for.
Logic shows this is a dangerous path to go down keeping a known drug illegal and allowing new compounds to be created without any possibility of a slow down.
These creators of the synthesized products can just keep slightly altering the structure of those compounds and then they aren't illegal anymore. Still have some similar effects as THC but the additional effects are unknown and are proving to be very dangerous.
Please stay safe and keep to real weed, don't get pulled into trying these dirty dirty products, which are created by literally spraying random plants with synthesized chemicals.
