I refuse to "follow for follow", and get a lot of direct messages on steemit.chat asking for exactly that.

I simply educate them on how it just doesn't work like that on Steemit. Followers are ACTUALLY WORTH SOMETHING HERE, unlike other social media sites. I let people know that "follow begging" can hurt their reputation far more than it can help.
