@krnel and @reddust for me, i have talked about it long ago and i have felt the same way you reddust in the past when i became. i laugh when you say demoralizes, for some people it disrupts their heartbeat pattern and can lead to a heart attack. It is that bad but that may not be the point. If we take upvotes to be the views of the masse, then the solution is easy. it should just be a matter of ratios if a whale etc decides to downvote. 1 downvote from a whale should not override the 100 upvotes. There should be ratios. Overall, it should not be only one whale deciding matters, it should be at least 3 or 2 at worse. So if ratios apply, then it can be let's say 1 whalevote can only counter say 50 minnow upvotes, thus it can only take prominence of less than 50 minnow upvotes, else it will just be a downvote but no effect on payout. So if there are 100 minnow upvotes and one whalevote comes in to downvote, it will just be a downvote but will not affect payout except another whale comes around and downvotes the same post. 2 downvotes from 2 different whales who didnt have a prior meeting can now affect payment for the post. now if a post has like 300 upvotes, it will take the rendezvous of 6 random whales downvotes on the post to disrupt its payout. various ratios should also apply, when the scenario involves orcas and dolphins eyc. now look at this, if 6 whales have to come around to downvote a post with 300 upvotes from minnows, then it determinable that the post must be really bad or that thw whales actually had a meeting or discussion to conclude on downvoting to post. now it will no longer be just subjective as it is no longer one whales or say one dolphins decision and the voice of the people can holdsway and upvotes will be valued as of having additional influence. now the downvotes of the whales can alter visibility maybe or prevent it from going to the trending page but should not diminish pay till ratio criteria are met. now if a post only has 49 minnow upvotes etc, then a whalevote can both diminish payment and visibilty. these are just examples. in general, it has to 2 or 3 random whales deciding a weighty downvote before a vote can just nullify hundreds of upvotes. there should be some sort of meeting from random whales to decide outcome and a downvote and this can be accomplished using my ratio examples. @krnel i appreciate what you done to air @reddust. Splendid! Long ago, i tried to touch on these issues in posts when it bother me big time before i started to get the hang of things, i also have touched on value comments and making them visible or giving them the ability to stand out as posts. it is very simple i think cos i think the foundation is already there. the coomets have their url, direct parents etc. now #forgottencomments for instance, when you will click on it now, holds its own url and it is empty when you get there, though you will expect to see something when you get there. you may even expect to see this comment housed in the tag but you will meet an empty url. there should be an instant way to have a library of the best comments we find on steemit and keep them for our keeps or for the good of people who decide to click on our newly-made hashtag etc. i wish i knew the technicalities but i dont know what is possible or what is not but in my imagination, i would so so like or wish that i go to an amzing comment and i am able to choose one dedicate # to house them in. so mayb just put my #forgottencomments next to any amazing comment i see, so that whenever i visit my #forgottencomment, i can see the the thread of that comment and all other comments i have saved. now anybody who visits a comment section and sees a hashtag and is inclined to follow it, doesnt go to an empty url but sees a bunch of comments. for instance long ago, some said in comments. oh let #steemfest2 take place in mexico and upon reading the comment, i said oh mayb steemfest 2 is on the way and i followed the hashtag only to find out an empty url or hashtag but the page does load and you get somewhere. bsically what i am saying is. i go to a thread and i like the comment and mayb want to save it or read it later and what to keep it public for people to possibly read it, i just place my dedicated # in the comment of my reply, then i can always check my library of #forgottencomments to read it and people can be led to new worlds and they see this #forgottencomment as a clickable link and instinctively follow it to be led to a new paradise of comments and knowledge. this is additonal interaction and community. i dont know if my imagination is the solution but i just add my thoughts to give further insight into possible solutions!
