Does STEEMIT Suck balls!??

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I've been on Steemit for over 2 weeks now. As a crypto investor and a photographer the idea that I could combine two of my interests really intrigued me. I know it's still fairly new so I shouldn't expect too much straight away. But after doing plenty of browsing the majority of the content seems to be complete rubbish, lots of plagiarism, people posting just for the sake of it and I'm very skeptical of the "music/photography" Steemers who are making money. Their content is pretty lame so I assume they must be using bots or something. Doesn't feel like there's much room for organic growth?

I was hoping there would be more concert photographers, music bloggers and vinyl collectors I could network with here like I have done with Instagram and my own website. If there are any out there please let me know. I'll give this site a little more time, but so far I am unimpressed. Hope it stops becoming an ass kissing contest for upvotes and re-steams.

I took this photo last year. It's Ace Freehley from KISS

Thank you for this expression. I think we are patiently awaiting the growth of the platform. I also think that it is a matter of many of us finding the sources of good content here. I am glad to have found your blog.

Thanks.. I posted this when I was first getting into steem. I've since discovered better content and more of a community.

Great photo. I assume you met and were able to chat with Ace. If you don't mind my asking, what was he like?
I grew up listening to KISS. They're absolutely timeless in my opinion.
I can't speak to photographers and plagiarism on Steemit. That's not my thing...although I'd love to learn how to take better photos. Unfortunately I don't have an artistic bone in my body...but I do appreciate great photography.

I can speak to the crypto minds on here. Just like anywhere else, you've got morons, geniuses and everything in between.
I'm a self taught crypto trader. I was finally able to start trading full time just last month. It's been a hell of a ride.
Anyway...there are good people on here. New members are joining everyday. It just takes time to separate the genuine from the fake. I'm following you. Look forward to your posts. Cheers!

I didn't get to meet Ace just got to do photos for him. I have met Bruce Kulick though. Yeah this site seems to be okay for crypto info but that's about it for now. Hope it gets better it has great potential if it's done right

Hi

Thank you for #introducingyoursef.

I noticed that we both share similar passion towards cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology :)

Im myself quite new in steemit community but I realized that there are few things you could do to have a better start:
Mostly I invested a little bit in STEEM in order to purchase STEEM POWER and STEEM DOLLARS. Why? It's simply important. Without initial investment it will be very hard for you to build reach here and be noticed.

Im not sure if you ever heard about this site: http://steemd.com/@your_username
Example: https://steemd.com/@example
Perhaps you know it already :)

If you will reply to this message (that would allow me to believe that we may develop mutual engagement and help each other) then I will follow you and upvote some of your future posts.

Cheers and good luck, Piotr

One more thing just crossed my mind a moment ago.
Im assuming that you're new here and i would like you to understand that steemit is quite full of spam. Luckily steemit community related to blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies seem to be quite mature.
You will realize that there is many people out there who are trying to help newcomers or simple promote themselfs by sharing their knowledge and experience. I strongly support what they do and I myself decided to spent few minutes a day looking for new members of this society that are having similar interests and if they content is valuable then Im trying to build some engagement.

This is still quite new platform and it's up to us to shape our little community.

One more time, welcome on steemit and I wish you all the best!

Yours,
Piotr

Thanks dude. I hold some steem but only on Coinspot, not on here. I will get more soon. I'll keep engaging on here awhile longer. The potential is too great to give up on it now.

Thx for your reply :) I really appreciate.

Just like I promissed: I will follow you now and I hope to see more good content on your profile.

Also it's worth to have a look at those 2 usefull tools: https://steemstats.com and http://steemvoter.com
Im not sure if you ever knew those two. If not then check them out.

If you would ever have any questions or simply would like to keep in touch then please dont hestitate to write to me. My email: promib.pl@gmail.com
I will be more than happy to share/exchange my knowledge and experience (of course within my limited time)

And believe me, it's really hard to start without powering up your account on steemit. It's pretty much first thing you need to do if you're thinking about building reach here.

Cheers,

I almost forgot:

Let me give you small advise. Keep your upvoting power as close to 100% and upvote posts max 10 times a day (so your upvoting power would regenerate to 100% within entire day). Dont upvote your own comments. Upvoting comments in general isn't the best idea.
Upvote mostly posts and also dont upvote if post is older than 7 days (in that case your upvote is meaningless). Self-upvoting is considered "acceptable" by biggest part of community. Especially if you're just at the beginning of your journey here.

Remember: EVERY UPVOTE COUNTS

I also mentioned that to have a better start it's quite necessary to invest and buy some STEEM (and convert it to steem power).
Number of times I encountered question: "how much should I invest".
This it's really hard to tell. I bought 600usd worth of STEEM and I used 90% to power up my account (steem power) and 10% I used to keep steem dollars (having them may be usefull). Some people invested so much more. I invested amount that I could invest without feeling very stressed out. Which I also recommend.
I think 100-200$ should do for a start so you could actually monitor results of your activity here.

Look, if you would ever have any questions then just contact me via email: promib.pl@gmail.com or find me here @crypto.piotr
I believe that working together can benefit all of us :)

Yours, Piotr

You should give it a bit more time (two weeks is nothing for Steemit, believe me), there is a community of photographers, for sure not so big as in Instagram, but there is one.

I will advice you to take a look at the Steepshot app, kind of Instagram but the Steemit version (we called the INSTAGRAM KILLER ;) ) The web is https://alpha.steepshot.io/ and account in Steemit @steepshot

The photo in your post is really cool btw (besides the title ;) ) I was a KISS fan when a kid. Following you now, interested to see what you will bring to the platform in the future.

Cheers!

Cool looking app. I'll check it out! Thank You

I totally agree with Juan.

There always be plagiarism, unfortunately everywhere and there is no good cure for that. I feel you because I am new here too (just for a week)

Yeah hopefully it gets better
