How Do You Talk To Your Friends About SteemIt?

I got my younger brother on the phone today. Once again after catching up I pitched steemit to him. He is a phone tech like me smart guy but still way into game like I was before I had kids. I told him he could write game reviews or post videos of him playing in dtube. He could share his skills on fixing phone systems or just do ulog post. Some of it appeals to him when we talk but I just can't get him to join. I wanted to know if you guys or gal have an good idea for getting people to join steemit. I have been trying to get my real life friends into steemit for a while now and not one has joined. Steems price drop didn't help but I never told them they would get rich so not sure why that matters. I know the sign up process is a bit strange for them but I am wonder if I should now offer to buy them accounts. I figure I could start them with a few Steem and know than in theory them here should get me some of that back from votes. And in general will make steemit more fun for me. I have meet some really nice people on steemit and a few I would even call friends now. but I would love to be able to keep more in touch with my friend and family here. So how do you get them to join? Just a quick post looking for some ideas. If you have them let me know.

If you don't know about "Curation Circle Creed" please check it out also.

It is a place where you can be paid to ask questions !

I registered them myself, about 4 friends are active and my friend brought me here 3 months ago. As time passes, I believe that more and more people will start using Steem, its not so mainstream right now and it is only beta version. Imagine in few years when all bugs get fixed, Steemit and Steepshot could have some sort of messenger and even games like facebook. Amazing potential, just needs some time to improve and promote.

Ya that is a idea I have for sure.

Your post was very beautiful. I have read your entire post with my heart.

Thank you.

I've spoken to both of my sister-in-laws; both big facebook fans, and I just can't convince them to join either! Not sure what the answer is :)

Ya I saw you can buy people accounts that start with some steem so I am like hmm this year for christmas I am giving people cards with a password account name and 20 steempower on it they can figure it out if they want the money

I will need to buy some more steem though

That's actually a great idea @stever82 😅

Yes I have also tried to invite friends, but still haven't seen anyone! Some said that the confirmation code they got didnt work and others i don't know, they said they would join, but maybe people got discouraged by the confirmation process.. I don't know, honestly!

Yes that is why I am feeling like going forward when I talk to them if they want to sign up I am going to do it for them. I can either do it the free way like I did mine I didn't have an issue or there is a way to buy them an account and it starts with the 3 steem you pay as steem power and happens right away. I don't want to give away all my steem but if you get a friend on here they should help you grow your account so might be worth 3 steem.

I have talked to friends about Steemit. They say (A)They're not interested in cryptocurrency, (B) It is too complicated, (C) they don't have time. Some of my friends have zero experience with HTML and I think you need to know at least some of the basic codes, so I don't urge them to join.

I think that's a very nice gift for your friends!

I have gotten 2 people to join(a photographer, and a "coder") but both used the platform experienced a bit of success but neither stayed. I think the problem is neither of them found the community here and I believe to do so you have to do allot of digging and following whales in each sub. Its the hardest part to explain really. I wish Steemit would behave more like Reddit where you could follow specific tags and then have a home feed based on
that. Its the only logical step forward because the Token Curated voting is totally of when it comes to gathering good content for most users

I haven't been able to get anyone to join yet. But I am working on it. I hope by the time they do my account can help them more.

Interesting post for a Friday!

For many people, the "money" is not there or sufficient for the "instant gratification" minded people.

I joined as an investor and after investing thousands of dollars in STEEM, the return is still low in comparison with other fun and rewarding investments - stocks, silver, or real estate.

I joined to have a voice and hoped to make friends, but I have found it to be difficult to match up with "like-minded" people.

So, I have accepted that collaboration or making friends are not easy and I am only trying to have some fun while helping a few people to grow here.

What are their interests or hot buttons? Many people joined with great enthusiasm and expectation only to be disappointed and stopped. Others have found niches such as 0 posting and just upvoting to earn - perhaps like a bot (see my latest post). And, that could be like a game or programming challenge.
I started #ccc to help people find a way to stay and endure the "growing pains" here. And, once #ccc is mature and strong, more can join and then invite people to open accounts.

Happy Friday!
Have a great weekend!

Ya CCC has been fun I hope it grows. Thanks for the comments.

Buying accounts for friends and family could be a good idea, as long as the selected people enjoy writing, are creative and they have some spare time to dedicate to Steemit.

Ya I just figure keep the private key till they are on here enough for me to see they like it then have them change it. So if they are not around I can take over and make the account send me back the stem I use to open it.

I really think it could work... :-)
