The Making of a Whale #2: @someguy123, A Top Witness

A top witness in the SteemIt community, he post occassionally, but when he does.....you know the outcome.

His name is Chris, a developer in many programming languages who is trusted in the Litecoin and Bitcoin community (got that from his introduction post dated 6-8-2016). Enjoy my journey through his blog back to his first post.

How He Became a Whale

The word whale to me is one who is a major stakeholder, I believe @someguy123 fits this description. Unlike my previous subject (@sweetsssj), @someguy123 is an unconventional whale. Going through is blog, it was difficult to pinpoint what exactly was his cause for rising to fame. But as I always do, I found out some lessons for upcoming steemians like myself.

1. Making Use of One's Strength

A friend once told me, "If you are good, rub it in the face of your audience." That is exactly what @someguy123 did with his introduction post, and that won him some big bucks.

2. Building Reputation Outside the Community

I have learnt from the few months of active steeming that reputation matters a lot, some times more than the post. While conventional Steemit whales made their reputation on the platform, our subject made his outside the platform. And that makes a lot of sense, his opinions are more trusted about matters in cryptocurrency than a newcomer. Well, everyone can't be @someguy123, so if are not, like I shared about @sweetsssj, build your reputation in the Steemit community. This will take time but it is a worth the investment.

3. It is Possible to Hit $1000 First Month

I have got the impression before checking his blog that it isn't possible to hit $1000 first month. But his story proved me wrong (he did by 7th post). If you create value people will appreciate you. Though Steemit is quite stricky because your posts can't get more upvotes than the views (most times), so a good post may get no upvotes at all because it has very few views. That is why point 3 is important.

4. Even the Best Players have a Bad Day in Office

I learnt that phrase from Football Manager Game. That exactly is true of @someguy123, he had very bad days here on Steemit. If he did with all the reputation and lovely contents, so will new steemians like myself. Therefore, keep pushing!!

5. Effect of a Quality Post Transcend the Present Post

@someguy123 had some very informative posts which the community did well to appreciate. What I found out is the influence gained by these posts had a great effect on the following lesser posts. These shows the importance of those good ideas we get though they come once in maybe 7days, but the effect is exponential.
