Every photo I take with my phone gets uploaded to Google Photos, so it would be convenient to use that for images I want to include on Steemit posts. There have been issues with that as when you get a link for an image it does not include '.jpg' or any other suffix that allows the image to be recognised as such.
I'm just trying this again by getting the link from an image preview and it seems to be working even without the suffix. The link is extremely long and includes some parts at the end that let you modify the size. I'll go with the defaults for now.
This is the HQS Wellington on the Thames in London where I had lunch yesterday. That was an event by the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. That's a livery company which is part of the tradition of the city. I've not joined yet, but I may do so.
There's some discussion of Google image links on their forum where people express their frustration. They've added information to the FAQ and one of them has produced a Chrome extension that I have yet to try. Apparently these links can expire, so let's see if this image is still there in a few days.
There's also a site gdURL that may be able to generate working links. It really should be easier. People want to post images here and on forums without messing around. Anyone know of other ways to do this?
Ah this has been bugging me SO much! I upload all of my project photos to my "google photos" and I can never seem to get them to work correctly
Hope it works for you. I did have some issues with links to photos not working, but you can copy the actual photo and paste it into a post. Back when I did this post steemit did not host photos for you, so you needed a link
How we can know which images from google search result are totally safe for steemit even without any editing ?
Will be thankful for a reply....
You can use the search tools to look for images that allow re-use
Thanks .
You may want to use your Dropbox account. Using Dropbox for your images on Steemit is easy and the images load very fast. Below is one of the free images, Boston City Flow, included with your Dropbox account.
I do use Dropbox and it does a better job that Drive, but it's an extra step to copy files over there. I'm also using Keybase that gives me 10GB for free.
It just surprises me that Google have not done more to make their service more useful.
Using the Dropbox app makes that step a piece of cake. You also get the public URL from the app.
Thanks for the tip about Keybase, I didn't know they offered 10 GB space for free. :-)
