Steemit is still a very young platform with a relatively small set of users. Those who got in early have got a lot of power, but that should even out in time (a long time). They are still adjusting the algorithms and that may help to make the distribution of rewards better. It's frankly ridiculous for a post on such a small site to be valued in thousands of dollars. You need many millions of views anywhere else to make that. I know it's a different model, but this devalues the Steem currency, especially if people sell it off for profit. I'm making a few cents, which seems reasonable compared to some other sites I've used. It's better than the zero I get on some of the big name sites.

Give it some time. Steemit has great potential as a new platform.
