I think that Steemit is still in the infancy stage. The rewards people were getting at the start seemed over the top to me. I know you can't compare it directly with ad-supported sites, but something has to set what Steem should be worth. I feel I'm getting a reasonable return for my blogging. There are some trolls, but I try to avoid them.
It's a shame if you feel it's not worth sharing your writing here. It ought to be the perfect place for it.
Yes, it is still in its infancy and that's the main reason I'm staying. I'm not here for the rewards, honestly :) The problem is, rewards is exactly what gets your name up and out there, into Trending, Hot etc.
A reasonable return for blogging was more than I asked for or expected. I got nothing on Facebook, I get nothing on my blog.
I also got the message, the unspoken one, that because I spoke out about something, it all ended there. Take a look at my blog. I went from the occasional $50+ to the regular -$1 but +100upvoted post. The block-voting is an awesome and revolutionary device, it helps curation guilds and new users alike, but in the hands of someone that has an axe to grind, it can quickly put users off.
I don't need to blog on here, I should be spending the majority of my time writing and that's what I'm going back to. If I don't feel my work is valued, I don't need to stick around. I've been writing for a good long while and though I've not yet made it 'BIG', I do have a number of followers, as the graph on that post shows.
It's a fact that you will only make real money if one of the few whales likes you. Even with a few thousand SP I can't gift people much with a vote. I've been lucky to do as well as I have, but I won't be giving up the day job
Haha! Same here!
