RE: To my friends from TSU still searching for a new home: 10 things I like about Steemit and more

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

This is an excellent post that will help people understand what Steemit is about. I think it's a different beast to Tsu. It's not just a dash for cash. People are blogging here rather that posting clickbait. I think the site needs to be more user friendly to attract general users. It's fairly geeky at the moment. I like that it's expandable. People are developing various services around it. Steem could become a common on-line currency. You can easily buy it with Bitcoin and then send it to people with no transaction fees. It's still early days.

BTW You got my username slightly wrong.

Thanks, @steevc! Steemit is so much bigger in scope than TSU, it can be intimidating. But I find the large-scale enterprise part of it really fascinating. It's similar to what's going on behind the scene for every business and legal transaction, that we just don't think about. I can't imagine all the transactions that have to be processed for stock trades on all the exchanges, for example. Steemit got me to think about all that!

PS: Do you know if I can edit a post without losing upvotes? I'll change your username and get it right from here on out! Thanks for letting me know.

With Tsu it was always unclear what was making you money. It's a lot clearer here. I see lots of potential

Not sure what impact it has to edit a post, but I don't worry too much about the pennies I might lose.

I risked my ~6 pennies and edited your name so it's correct, lol. And there was no way to know, really, whether TSU was doing the accounting right. Sometimes the views would go down and that just didn't make sense. But that sense of community kept people there -- like our families keep us on Facebook.

Does one lose up votes when they edit? Too, is it possible to edit a post more than 24 hours later. I tried it and the error message I got is that it is past 24 hours since post was created

I have made minor edits to 2 posts after 24 hours, and they went through fine - without affecting the votes. But Steemit can change, because it is still in its early development. So I try to be open to whatever happens. It was nice of @steevc to transfer 6 cents to me -- Thanks, Steevc! -- in case it didn't work out. I do know that a post becomes permanent after 30 days. No comments or edits can be made at all after that.
