Hi precious steemit family, i am @thereikiforest, a steemian and "whale inside" and i am speaking in the words of @steemsecrets.
Did you know that on steemit, there are bigger things than "quality of content".
This "sole knowledge" will speed up your steemit journey success-wise.
Say it with me; "there are bigger things that "quality of content".
Hahaha yes, on steemit, "I am not the best writer; you are not best writer and there are many writers.
There are tons of "quality content"; what there aren't tons of; "is you!"
So perhaps, what's rewarded on steemit is "value"; the value "you" create.
Besides "you" though, let's look at some other things that may matter, when it comes to "what makes a steemit post trend" beyond "quality" of content:
- Number 1. Much of the "value" created behind-the-scenes, may be rewarded on-the-scene.
There are many "behind-the-scenes" but only one "on-the-scene". The only on-the-scene is "steemit".
Thus, a giant pay-out on a post may reflect "value", created behind-the-scenes.
e.g a developer may do sleepless nights behind-the-scenes to make steem work and may be rewarded on steemit, in the form of "giant payout" on his simple-looking post
But there is more...
- Number 2. A post may decide to trend because of its pinpoint timeliness.
For instance, a one-liner zap saying "earthquake in 5 mins", may trend over post of "6k words", if "earthquake" did indeed happen. in the next 4 mins and 59 seconds.
And who knows, the picture of a tomato may technically constitute more "valid value" on February 14, than a post containing a "gallery of onions"
- Number 3. Some posts are triggered from behind-the-scenes and have been ordained to go out there and trend, for the positive impact it may have on the community.
- Number 4. Some posts are on trending because they have been determined as of having "greater potential" to attract "a particular audience" during "a particular period".
e.g a meme author may constantly trend during a particular period, to attract "a meme audience" during "a time when meme is the craze".
- Number 5. Some posts written in Chinese and hailing from China for instance, may trend because "internet is censored in China" and these types of posts can aid the "steemit presence" in China
- Number 6. Some "post" may trend because there is "no resource" even on the entire web on the topic that post covered and it has been seen that such post, if found organically in the search engines, will do better in attracting sign-ups, if it earns substantially.
Overall, posts that trend, tend to have large amounts in potential payout as these large amounts also have a role attracting sign-ups from visitors who visit https://steemit.com
Basically, "large potential payouts" seen on posts aren't necessarily an exact reflection of just "its quality".
There may be other things apart from "quality" involved!
What have i been saying?
Much of what is rewarded on steemit is "value", that is why even the simple act of upvoting or "curating" is rewarded as well.
Now, "value" is "bigger things" than just "quality of content".
That your posts doesn't earn well, isn't a reflection of its quality.
Comparisons thus, can help you improve, but don't compare just content.
If you are to compare at all, compare "value" but since you have no real measure of this "value"; keep in mind that there are bigger things than content and value;
"YOU!"
Evolve in your very substance!

- did you visit "steemit" history or did you jump steps?
- Are treating "steemit" like you would "real life"?
- There is a "lot of facts" that you don't have, so why hurry when it comes to conclusion
- There is sense in nonsense
- Be whale inside-out
- Are you applying foresight too, when it comes to attaining "steemit success" or are you just looking?
- Shine your eyes
- There are opportunities on steemit apart from upvotes and financial rewards and you have missed many
- Your quality content may still not trend because on "steemit", there are bigger things than content. It is "value" that is rewarded; "the value YOU create!"

These words are weightier than gold and silver. Now most times, people on steemit, especially minnows tend to think that they have no worth simply because their posts are not found on the trending pages. Nice content.. Many people do judge a post by the headline /title and upvote and some will ignore it.
Some people will not even check what is in the post due to the pics they've seen they are going to ignore the post wch is totally bad.

Yes you are very right. There are other factors which determine the value or Pay-out of a post aside from its quality,it could be a community support or very high SP amongst other things
I really agree with you on this. Have seen some post that are not that there. You know whai mean and they are trending. Community and followers also help. Then to be honest sometimes I sense this act of God-fatherism and motherism. Just saying......

This really speaks what I am feeling right now. I am not a good writer and there are many writers who are here on steemit. I cannot assess how quality are my posts but I am writing it with all my heart.
The value that I have put in all of my posts can't be compensated with the potential payout that can be seen in a glance.
Truly, we should not judge the posts, blogs, and articles of other steemians according to how big its potential payouts because the "potential payout" will never define the writers' efforts in publishing those.
In return of the good posts of the writers, we as a readers is just worthy to read every posts throughly and comment substantial thoughts related to the blog posted. In my personal experience, seeing substantial comments is already overwhelming in my heart.

I have always had this perception that to trend on steemit, there's got to be something bigger that is needed of a steemian. Thanks to you @thereikiforest for speaking in these words of @steemsecrets, revealing this unknown secret of great importance "value". No wonder why a lot of quality content writers finds it very difficult to trend, now i know that the value we one creates is the key to trend a post
This point goes a long way to pinpoint the importance of originality and need for oven fresh ideas with unique points required when making a post in other for it to hit the trend.
Like you rightly said, while some cook up posts in minutes and some hours, some spend sleepless nights to source good detailed data information for a post which gives it edge over other and straight up to trending it skyrockets.
There are a lot more to contribute here, but i will like to stop here for now. Thanks once again for this thought provoking piece.

While I still strive to put quality in my posts, I now understand your message here that it is the value that we bring which is more important. And there are so many ways to add value whether in Steemit or in the back scene. And that is so true, I don't post daily but on days I don't post I'm busy with other "offsite" Steemit activities.
And the best one I love in this message (I love all of it), is YOU/ME! It is ourselves we bring here, our own thoughts, our original ideas that bring more value, hence more valuable than value itself. This is a timely post I must say. Let me tell a story.
I have a sister who knows how to bake cake very well. In fact, I'll jump the best names in the baking industry to pick her own baked cake anytime, any day, anywhere. But she doesn't make profit like those people. She doesn't sell like this people. People don't call her like those people.
It takes more than awesome baked cake to sell. There are some skills she still lacks. There are some associations she still doesn't have.

I think this has the most insightful among @steemsecrets posts as it pertains posts we are sharing.
I agree with this. There are tons of quality contents on Steemit yet, they were undervalued. Of course, they are deserving a nod to earn good. But looking the value of the posts, it may have some drama, comedy, substance, that's really important. Quality contents though can be curated by curation teams, but valuable posts that some may be personal might not be curated by curie. That's why I am glad there is @teardrops where you can share stuff that might not be informative, but it has a heart.
yaah agree there are many quality of content which not earn most of rewards! we should do more and more strugling where time come and we acheived our goals!

It took me some time to realize what value is.
I think its rather hard to define true value as it's subjective especially to the writer. However writing by the heart comes first I think and expressing clearly every part of what you want to share and what you feel. Then value comes next.

There is actually more to steemit than just the content and quality. Steemit is very synonymous to life itself, as a matter of fact Steemit is the location for vast amounts of knowledge. I cannot over-emphase how well informed i have become through steemit.
You are even more right when you ask if we take steemit like real life. I've not been doing well on that area.
