So we hit LA running this week and had our first Los Angeles Steemit Meetup. We took our @SteemMarketing earnings and found a host, hired a band and even had some Steemit Pizzas made. They didn't turn out so well but they tasted great. You can see the sad reveal below lol.
But you see, we figured that getting out into the streets was the best way to introduce Steemit to real live people. We created our meetup and people showed up with varying interests in blockchain and crypto but we knew that once they heard about Steemit, they would be hooked.
Why Did We Know This?
Because Steemit makes sense and Steemit is easy. When the meetup started we could tell that people were there to find the best coins, ICO's and pitch their products. They weren't there to learn about some social media network. But that is what they learned.
We were fortunate to wrangle a speaker from UULALA
and he was great. Everyone learned about their platform and we even got their photographer to take the pics you see here. It was a win win.
But the real fun started when we started talking about Steemit. The Weiss Ratings Report just broke that day and Steem was in the news. When we told folks they could invest in that coin and leverage it through Steemit their eyes lit up.
No matter what brought our guests to the meetup, they all left with a plan to leverage Steemit. In fact, we will have some upcoming posts to highlight the new users and investors we onboarded that night.
The takeaway from our first Steemmarketing meetup is this.
Meetups works. They work because they are made up of real people talking to other real people. We all share some common experiences in this new frontier and connecting is important.
Our main point to all of the potential new Steemians we interact with is this: Don't measure your time in Steemit in terms of ROI. Measure it in ROC.
What is ROC? ROC is Return On Community.
Steemit is a community and if you focus on community building instead of ROI Steemit then becomes sustainable for members at every level. So go out there and talk about Steemit. Share Steemit with your online social networks. But when you do, invest in your Steemit community first. Do it with your votes, your time and your understanding. That is the path to growth and revenue.
Special Thanks To Our Host Il Piccolo Verde
And our Pizza Chef for trying his best!
