After overwhelmingly positive feedback I have decided to do a quick follow-up on the very first edition of
I would like to thank @reggaemuffin, @flamegirl and many others for actively and selflessly supporting this project! Now let me explain some more about it first. The goal is to reward an unexpected bonus to active curators on Steemit. There are many hardworking Curators, often with low Steem Power and struggling to enjoy, while they are actually vital to this platform. The competition with auto-voters is becoming increasingly fierce, as bots take a bigger and bigger part of the value that is meant to go to Steemians that scour the new posts for hidden gems.
The Noobie Curation Fund is here to give a much needed incentive to those that spend their valuable time to manually curate the stream of new posts.
So now, to business! This post will be boosted according to the following Boost Schedule:
10 min - 2 SBD
20 min - 2 SBD
30 min - 2 SBD
40 min - 2 SBD
6 days - 8 SBD*
Cast your vote as early as possible to maximize your weighted returns
*A late boost is added to:
1 - Widen the window of opportunity for participants
2 - Maximize final return, as it declines over time

Hey @honolulu! Cool thinking and thanks for the support, its very much appreciated! The point is to upvote before the boosts, so your upvote gets an increased value. The earlier you get in the next round, the more your upvote will be worth!

It is a contest in the sense that the earliest upvoter (theoretically an active Curator), gets the most weight assigned to their vote. This means a boost of 8 to 20 times the Curation Reward compared to their average upvote. This is enforced by the guaranteed boosts after set timeframes and the support from wealthier Steemians. For a detailed explanation check out the previous edition. Also, for a general overview of the mechanics of Curation, check out the Steem website.

Excactly! The people that Curate a lot have the greatest chance to be among the first to upvote and therefore get the greatest benifit. It actually has some similarities to the OCD Daily blog, in the sense that both project strive to increase content quality. While OCD is focusing on great Authors, the Curator Gem is to reward great Curators.
A few of these will be posted per week, depending on traction and support from wealthier Steemians, as these blogs are not breaking-even on author rewards obviously.

To answer your specific question: A minnow benefits by upvoting before the guaranteed boost and the support of wealthy Steemians that would like to reward active Curation. Depending on your Steem Power and the % weight of your vote, your Curation Reward can increase by 8 to 20 times compared to your average upvote.
