It´s strange overall as you shouldn´t work on the productive page but rather a development copy that will be released regularly.

Yes that is what I thought, but they have tested it first with a test system that does not get enough traffic, and when they roll it out onto a live system they realise it's not working.
Maybe they should put a test system live, to enable a proper test to be done, by live users.
