what is steemit ????

in #steemit7 years ago

Steemit is the only project that works at full capacity, despite the name and the title "Beta". The network used on the Grafene II platform is a Bithshares project. This is a blockchain with hybrid consensus mechanism: Delegatury POS + POW. This network was launched in May 2016 and in June, the first payment to users.

Followed by rapid growth, and on August 1 the main capitalization of cryptocurrencies (STEEM) reached a historic high of 392 million dollars, for a short time, climbed to third place at Coinmarketcap.com. However, as soon as the growth record has been convinced the drop and in 2017 the capitalization of the CUBE fluctuates near the $ 35 million mark, which is more than 11 times smaller than the highest August.

The reason for the fall is quite well researched and dated 6 December 2016 held the hard work, radically changed the network economic system. Generally the market responded positively to hard work, but after a short recovery followed by predicted decline: with the aim of improving the liquidity of the frozen funds withdrawal period in the POWER ROOM, decreased from two years to 3.5 months, and a large number of users began to attract capital. Pessimistic forecasts about falling from 3-4 times due to withdrawal of capital did not materialize, and by mid-January the BATANG course had found balance and was in the range of 0.13 - 0.17 USD per bar.

It seems that changes in economic models have led to positive results. However, the social model of reputation, or Apatow balance (likes) and flags (negative feedback, leading to reduced payments) remains unchanged. This model has long been the object of criticism: the owner of the great balance of one svom flag can deny the reward and reputation of the author who has received widespread support from ordinary users. In addition, most of the capital is concentrated in the hands of the "whales" - the founder and first miner Steemit (the amount of capital not in the POWER, and in mvest - 1 roughly equal to mvest 479 POWER BATT):

There is widespread practice of whale collusion when they consistently select certain materials that can be self-owned through dummy accounts, thereby reducing award pools. Lately this practice has caused a sharp conflict between the whales and one of Steemit's founders, Dan Larimer (Dan Larimer, Steemit @ and @dantheman accounts), between the real start "War of Thrones". Briefly, the flag, which is understood as a means of struggle with pornography, criminal and offensive content began to serve as a weapon for personal vendetta.

Another problem faced by the attention economy - vote bot. The number of automatic appatows is many times greater than the actual number of posts. This is easily seen by opening the post and comparing the number of Apatow with the number of hits (both values listed at the end of the post). In fact, from this follow another disappointing conclusion: the total number of 127 thousand accounts, the actual user is not more than a few thousand people. This is clearly visible on the graph of the number of active users over a 7 day period, (C) Steemit @ me-tarzan users:

However, Steemit continues to expand around it's wide-ranging ecosystem of applications: browser units (in fact, websites to view content), markets, sets, statistical tools, chat, and other apps. The interface is comparable to the largest social network, and the developers are actively responding to user requests.

Another trend that has emerged in recent years: a number of development projects within the social networking framework, leaves the platform and creates independent applications in the Steemit blockchain. Whether the Steemsports project, originally existed as a bet site on Steemit: users have bet their own votes on the outcome of sporting events, and receive real money, without any risk - after all, the rewards they receive from the payment amount per post. Of course this can not last forever, and the pillars are brought down the business. Now this is separated from the Steemsports Steemits project using blockchain Steemit, and will even continue ICO, however, now its members must make bets, with the risk of losing money.

Another interesting project, the public version from which the founder will launch in the next two weeks: the new social network is completely independent of Steemit, but at blockchain Steemit - busy.org. About the economic system however, little information, and organizers say that if Steemit is to some extent similar to reddit and Medium, Busy.org becomes more like Facebook and Twitter. The new Digital Network purse will allow you to make payments around the world at no cost, which gives the new network more in common with the Wechat Chinese network. However, any Steemit user can also transfer Dollars or STAR BATS from your wallet to other Steemit users at no cost.

For completeness, we must mention the Russian language license clone Steemit - Golos.io. This is a copy of Steemit, actually in Russian, and is meant for russian-speaking societies. The only difference in the project economy lies in the fact that the analog of the Golden Token Dollar Trunk, not tied to US dollars, and equals 1 milligram of gold. The project is operated only for a few months, but all the problems that might be completely analog to Steemit because it is its copy
