The stupidest thing on STEEMIT

in #steemit8 years ago

How on earth is the payout under the posts shown on $  ?

are we for real?

yes i am talking to you.

It should either be SD or STEEM!

Even BTC would be a better option.

PLEASE change that.

Ease of use wont come like that.

Sort:

By definition 1 SBD == $1 worth of steem therefor $1 SBD should always be close to $1. People understand $1 they don't necessarily understand 1SBD.

i am talking about symbolism
It takes time to get used to it but it has to happen.
Hell,i had to change from DRACHMA to EURO.
took some time.has to happen.just saying

Why the aggressive, rude attitude to one of the founders. It's possible to make a point equally well with respect!

i did not mean to come out as aggressive.I have thanked dan and ned countless times on other posts and i m gratefull for their work!
it is just something that has my had spinning for a few days.SMART people can make mistakes.and it is my opinion against theirs, and i trust theirs more than mine,i am jus giving the average mindset

Fair enough. However, you say it is the average mindset, I am pretty average and it's not mine, more accurately it is your mindset.

i think we are equally wrong, thanks for the honest opinion

Many people only think about the value of SBD, STEEM or BTC in terms of USD. It's that real world value that influences their motivation to create great content.

That said, I think it should be a browser-based setting people could configure for themselves. I wrote a blog post a while back about hiding the $ symbol entirely with Stylish. I did it for 24 hours. It does change the experience.

people have to get used to it in order to adopt.it is going to have some bumps on the way,but has to happen in my opinion

Relax, that's the least of one's problems. Besides not everyone is familiar with cryptocurrency.

i actually think it is importtant and it wuld take like 2 seconds to fix.( if they agree it is a mistake)

It's a payout estimate. Actually the more problematic aspect is the realization of a new user that 50% go in SP and 50% in SD, and that you also have to get a "cut" of 25% due to curation... so the payout estimate should be more aligned with the SD payout minus 25% as to not create disappointment. So what is now 1000$ as estimated payout should be shown as 375$ (or 375 SD+375 SP). Other than that, it's ok I feel.

you are 100% about the 25% being taken out automatically,it does dissapoint.and yes best format would be somthing like 375 SD+375 SP

best option for sure

You don't get it. Steem is made to appeal to regular people, not some high-minded, self-absorbed crypto-nerd like you. Normal people understand what a dollar is which is one less hurdle for them to engage with the platform. If you want this stuff to succeed you gotta make it easy for normal people.

i agree for the most part.i just think(after the few friends i signed up)that they like the idea of something new,
they like the whole crypto idea,it is COOL.it really is and that is how under 35 see it
