HF19 Donation Time! Help @sflaherty and His Father

We're all giggling and counting our money after Hard Fork 19 (For those that don't know, HF19 is what caused your votes to suddenly be worth a lot more starting today. Try voting and you'll see). Understandably, we're all excited about the money we're earning. But let's take a quick pause from counting our own money and use this opportunity, and our new high-powered votes, to do something good! I've been trying to get donation efforts going for a while now, with mediocre success. But today, things are looking much more hopeful. Steemit is the PERFECT place to be gathering donation funds, especially after HF19, because it can be done through community input, without any cost to the community! Wether your vote is worth 20 cents or 5 dollars, you can donate to a good cause without actually paying anything!

All Earnings From This Post Will Go To @sflaherty

5 days ago, @sflahery posted about some very serious health issues going on with his dad.

For awhile now I have been doing all I can to avoid posting about the current stresses ongoing with our little tight nit family unit. Mainly due to the fact I just am too humbled to seek for help outside of myself by working for what I make in life. This is a quality deeply instilled in me due to the man that raised me

we had a horrible bit of info come back from my fathers doctor at the local Veteran's hospital 2 years ago that my father carries with him 2 aortic aneurysms located near his stomach. The chances of the slightest jerk or movement could rupture this so he has been under the care of doctors at the local VA but still to this day the important surgery keeps being put off
...
While this is going on my dad had to take a forced retirement so to make matters worse he is now stuck providing income via Social Security checks which is sinking them even more in debt than ever before

Read the full post here. I know what it's like to be in a family that keeps personal issues quiet. No one wants to ask for help. I really admire his ability to put that aside for the well being of his dad. I suggest you go over and upvote/resteem his post. In addition, all earnings from this post will be sent to @sflaherty. Let's use this increased voting power to help out a fellow Steemian!

Please Upvote and Resteem!

Thank you so much for the help my brother. And to everyone here helping us out, your an amazing wonderful group of souls. This is why I work so hard for the community because its full of decent caring folks. Thank you for the help so I can help my parents, been hard to not be able to do it myself

Wishing you and your family well!

Thank you so much for that. We are starting to see a little head above the water financially but still concerns about when this surgery for my dad will take place. I think we will know more about his health in a few weeks and what course of action they will take for surgery on his aneurysm. Just so thankful this community backs us through this rough period, I don't think financially I would have been able to leap them ahead as much alone

Of course man - the health of your family is huge. No matter how dire or comfortable the financial situation, it is always a trial. Wishing your pops a very speedy recovery.

Thanks my friend, means the world to us to have your amazing support. One day at a time, how we are doing this

Hoping for his fast recovery my brother @sflaherty :)

Yes brother we are nearing the target :) hows your dad?

He's in good spirits, has a checkup soon and we should know better when a surgery date will be set. They are a lot less stressed it appears

Hoping for his fast recovery. He still waiting to get clear before the surgery. Regards to your father. My prayers to him :)

Upvoted both posts! Hope his situation improves. This is least we can do...

Upvoted and followed @sflaherty. The VA can be so frustrating, and being on a fixed income due to health issues is tough. Hope Steemit helps turn the situation around.

I am dealing with the VA now and it is a pain in the butt. Best wishes to you and your family.

Great idea @steem.engine! I hope you don't mind if I piggyback on your idea and do the same for @sflaherty on my blog. I think he is a great guy and would like to help him and his dad as well. I wish I had thought of this before. upvoted and resteemed
