Seems it is more a habit, people complain because they do not seems to have anything better to say. SteemIt does require dedication, and time, those are both things people do not see, how long it took you to 1. think of this topic, 2. write this article and fix it to perfection. All they seem to do is look at the pay out and thing, I post something I will make that amount as well, but they do not see all your efforts, also spent commenting, reading, or interacting with other users on this platform.
