It's really not so bad, but there are a lot of things to be done, without even considering additional features. So many things could be done just to supplement the current ones, that would enhance usability with fundamental expectations, like various sorts on followers or following lists, and color coding of the buttons within those sections for faster visual scanning of follow and unfollow toggles. Things of that nature abound through the system in terms of immediate low hanging fruit, that it routinely shocks me we are at over 30,000 daily active users and so few are raising suggestions and dare I say complaints. I see enhancements on nearly every page, any of which are surely not more than a day or two's dev work, and some even less, based on my roughly 30 years of tech and software development organization roles and leadership positions as a basis for this one man's opinion.
As a former director of technology on a fairly sizeable social network multi-million dollar software project, I've got to agree though, finding good help AND affording them, is not as easy as it might seem.
