In one word: Development
I was chatting with @thedegensloth today about his project @zappl
If you're not familiar with this project, @zappl is a platform being developed on the Steem blockchain that will act as a "Twitter for Steemit" -- in other words: micro-posting, retweeting, memes... that sort of stuff.
As we were chatting the realization came to me that the "Pandora's Box of Development" that has been opened because of Steemit will usher in the sort of blockchain development that many of us in the Bitcoin space have been waiting for for years.
With the stress that the major social media platforms have been putting on their users, which I talk about here and here -- you know what I mean: the censorship, the demonetization -- developers are rushing to come up with a killer app to accept this overflow of talent that is either leaving the restrictive platforms or thinking of leaving.
And when I started brainstorming how this feedback system would work between Steemit and the new systems that will be developed on top of it, my mind started to blow out my brain.
Consider: apps will be developed on top of Steemit which integrate with the Steem blockchain, these apps will reveal weaknesses and unknown bugs in Steemit which will then be corrected, which will cause the apps to addapt, and we will end up with one of the most quickly evolving technologies on the planet. The level of robustness that Steem will have is going to be incredible.
It will be like an epic Developer War, with each encampment fortifying their own base whilst strategizing how to innovate on top of the recent hardfork. And it will be we -- the consumers -- who will reap all the benefits.
These new apps will solve problems that Twitter and YouTube have never had to solve. The "big dogs" don't care what consumers want or need, and since they are centralized and privatized, they can do whatever they want if there is no other option.
Well guess what? Now there's an option, bitches!
I am so excited to be here on the ground floor as this technology advances and liberates us from the economic Hell of quantitative easing, debt, wage slavery, and centralized authorities controlling every God damned thing we say and do. We will see an entire information and content infrastructure that will PAY US FOR USING IT -- blogs, video sharing, browsing, hiring, developing...
Are you ready?!
Who's with me?!?!
Follow me @shayne
I BELIEVE IN THE HYPE!
But to be true it is quite a longshot considering that it's mostly the old guard (FB, Twitter) that are loosing users. While Instagram and other more "ephemeral" apps are taking it's place
I think a video sharing platform will be the pebble that causes the damn to burst. YouTube is screwing over its talent so hard.
Good content and posts man, I whale up your post and following you for now ;)
Well thank you for the compliment. :D
I followed you solely based on your name!! 😂
I think you are the 3rd person who told me that. Easy followers !!!
Have a nice friday night ;p
"HELL YEAH"
Franks with YOU
Let's do it!
STEEM is backed by creator content, and gives it a basis for value that should rise over time. Good analysis
What you say is true. Thanks!
Welcome brother!
Nice article pretty good read and @zappl made it in!!!!
I'm beyond excited for this platform.
Oh tell me about it ( > 0 3 0 )> !!!!!
The untapped potential is ENORMOUS! The fact that so few know what Steemit is yet so many people are making the move tells me that we're in on the ground floor of the future of social media! :)
Indeed. It's practicality before theory.
I've been telling people for almost a year now that Steem and its blockchain are ETH 2.0, after telling them ETH is Bitcoin 2.0 for years.
Great content btw, watched your latest video earlier. Should take a look at your game when I have some more time, been planning a game built on the Steem blockchain for a while now.
Thank you!
I have been working on a concept for a blockchain-based game for about a year. If I can pull it off it'll make me millions.
Sounds great! In case you haven't decided on which blockchain yet, I'd recommend the Graphene ones (BTS/STEEM/PPY). Good luck!
Very informative post!
Thanks for saying so!
There is a TON of potential for the Steem blockchain, most of which hasn't even been conceived, IMO.
Time will tell whether the potential is captured or not, but, with the recent inflow of attention (money) into Steemit, I believe the odds are growing that it will. It will only continue to grow if the price of Steem continues its recent rise. The greater the price of Steem, the greater the incentive to build a killer app for it.
Should Steem get a sufficiently high market cap, all the greatest devs are going to be flocking here to compete for their own piece of the pie. This will lead to a positive loop of killer apps and more competition to create the next = big time valuation for Steem.
That is my impression also. That is, if things go well.
I'm with ya!
Well a'right then!
Facebook, Twitter, Youtube should have seen it coming ages ago, but too much money blinds! Isn't that ironic?
I believe that when an organization gets as much power as they do, it stops being about money. YouTube has never been profitable, however it's the second largest search engine in the world -- that's power. Steemit ain't 'bout that.
I like the way you think!
Thanks :D
For a newbie like me, this post is an "education."
Heck, a good start to earn my Steemit degree.
Thanks for sharing! :)
Followed you!
Well thanks :D
I post a lot of tips and tools for new people here. There might be some helpful things on my feed.
I have been going through it, you know!
It's fun to learn and understand and conclude.
Thanks for making it easier! :)
