I suggested it was a bad idea when I first saw the post about Steem.chat. It shouldn't have been launched before a Steem oAuth was finished, so that reputations could be carried over to chat. There's tens of things wrong with the idea of a chat that isn't linked to the Steem chain in any way, it creates a serious PR problem.
