Steemit is currently very hot, people like to research what this platform can do for them and get enthusiastic by others. But the people, called Steemians, who have been sitting there for ages, scatter with terms as if the whole world has known all the ins and outs of Steemit and the blockchain technology for 100 years.
I also notice that I often do this when I help others. I then sprinkle with terms that the beginners often think of how should I place this in the right context, do I need everything to know, and why everything has to be so difficult.
I'm trying to tell the basics
I will try to clarify some common terms in this blog post. Below are a few terms that will be discussed in this blog post. The list is much longer but then it will probably be too cluttered again.
For this the sake of this explanation I'll try to keep things as simple as can be
Some common terms:
- Steemit
- Steemit basic interface
- Steem blockchain
- Steem, Steem Power and SBD (Steem Dollar)
These terms are the ones that are immediately presented to you when you sign up. It is therefore wise to clarify for yourself what these are meant for and what they mean.
Advice: After that, try to learn the other terms and not everything at the same time
Steemit
Steemit is, in short, the website, which can be found on www.steemit.com, where you can type and post your blog text. Nothing more, nothing less. Your blog consists of a few basic elements:
- Title
- The content text
- Categories where you want to post the blog post
If your post contains these elements you can submit it and your blog post will be visible to others from that moment.
Steemit basic interface
A number of terms are visible on the "main page" of your account.
To know:
- Blog - Here you will find all blog posts posted by yourself
- Comments - Here you can read all comments made by YOU on SOMEONE ELSE's blog posts
- Replies - Here you can read all the comments made by OTHERS on YOUR blog posts
Steem blockchain
The blockchain is a technique .... No, sorry I would keep it simple, the Steem blockchain might be easy to see as a motorway (better yet, a Toll road).
To drive on this (toll) highway (Steem blockchain) you need a toll pass (your Steemit Posting key).
The vehicle you drive on this highway is of the brand "Steemit". With this vehicle, you cruise nicely over the Steem blockchain.
But YOU have more vehicles, from another brand that YOU can choose yourself to drive on this highway.
These vehicles obviously have the same toll pass (the same Steemit key) to be allowed to drive on the same (toll) highway (Steem Blockchain).
One of your 'other' vehicles that you can use is, for example, from the busy.org brand, you can also use it to get to the same final destination (posting a blog post)
In short, there are several possibilities (different vehicles) to create a blog post.
I can not explain it even more simply, I fear
Steem, Steem Power and SBD (Steem Dollar)
Then last in this blog post the terms Steem, Steem Power and SBD (Steem Dollar).
For the purpose of the explanation, I use the term "Bitcoin" that everyone knows. Of course again explained very clearly but well, the goal is clarity for everyone.
You can come to these terms in your wallet. Then you should know that Steem and Steem Dollar (SBD) are the liquid currency on the Steem blockchain. Just say the Bitcoin of Steem blockchain.
Steem Power is then the same Steem as described above only this is "locked" in your bank account for 13 weeks. That gives Steemit more power for yourself.
Please put questions in the comments below and I try to answer them as clearly as possible.
