Particularly from a web dev perspective I don't think blockchain should be the answer to absolutely everything XD Similarly to Scoots I'm a bit worried that something else in a similar space (I don't know if Akasha will catch up, Synereo looks like it's going if at glacial speed, and I am still looking forward to the Vivacoin one whenever that might appear as it looks good on paper) might blow it out of the water. I know it's all decentralised and anyone else could make another/better front end if they so felt the inclination but while people still have the mentality of steemit is the thing and anything else is third party and therefore inherently untrustworthy well there's going to be problems :D

Interesting idea about Bitcoin being the gold standard. Given its scaling issues it may actually work better as that :)
