I think you broke this down well. Because of the goal to be practically perfect and high self-awareness of where your progress is at, it is easier to spot flaws in oneself than for those that aren't working as hard on their goals. The high standards for others can also make life lonely and increase the insecurity. However, these women also tend to have more high quality relationships rather than high quantity of relationships.
Perfectionism is both a blessing and a curse in this way. I think Vince Lombardi puts it well, "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence."
