What do you think of pornography on SteemIT?

Hello my fellow Steemians!

Lets discuss something i've noticed on SteemIT the past few days, Pornography.

Me being a new user on SteemIT i am not sure how to feel about people posting porn as a blog post. It was my understanding that the SteemIT community was meant for blogging pure and unique content, and for this kind of content we receive our rewards. This made me happy to know that people still appreciate good writing and good content as much as i do.

But then i come across a couple of pages with nothing but NSFW posts and literally everything is just porn. And some of these posts have more upvotes than actual good content. And these posts don't even have many words in them, not even a story to go with the porn. Just pictures of girls performing sexual acts, and this gets rewarded?

I understand there also has to be some fairness and a balance here at SteemIT, but guy's i totally do not agree with pages being able to reap benefits strictly from posting pornographic pictures. It's kind of unfair to the people who are spending loads of time trying to create good content.

I hope in the future this is something that gets handled, i understand this is an open forum but there has to be some limits to what gets rewarded here, at least that's my opinion. What do you guys think?

As for me its.....

Its a free world. I almost posted complaining about the porn as well but thought hey... the community will decide. Personally, I block all people that simply post porn. I will not just block NSFW, just to clarify. I look at the pictures to see what they are, but if its simply porn, blokko! If I wanted porn I could go to the incredible swathe of porn sites already available. I do hope, however, that the community in general shuns the porn.

Yeah it's a free world, i agree with you though i hope that generally people shun the porn stuff and upvote the good content. Thanks for replying man.

Porn, regardless of what anyone may think of it, can only denegrate the STEEMIT brand.

I guess i didnt think of it this way. Like anything i guess it has its pros and cons

I'm with you man. But if you look at some social media sites (Reddit included) a lot of it's start had porn involved. It's all marketing. The cream will rise to the top. Just be patient.

porn has a lot of cream too haha. But yea man i'll be patient bro, it's one of my strong points.

Nice post. I personaly dont mind it that much but if this trend catches it can be very harmfull for steemit community. Some easily offended people will stop using steemit just because of that. So they need to find a solution. Maybe more flag options.. like "move to porn" that need only 3 user votes to process or something like that.

I dont like easily offeded people. So it's perfect for me if the go away. Sex and porn is part of life, very important part of life and I dont understand why people has problem with it. And from my experience these people are bigger problem for community than good pornographic post.

True but if I want to see porn I can go somewhere else. Porn posts on Steemit are a bit like if random articles about crypto, life, food would show up on my pornhub homepage :D That would ruin my experience :D

:D Ok, but there are posts which ruin my experience from steemit much more than porn. Plagiarism, posts about Bitcoin (Steem, Eth...) price changed from 1569 to 1569.1, recipes, bad photos, 1 sentence articles about nothing....

Thats kinda what i mean, i don't mind it so much. But some people might mind it more than others and it might stop people from wanting to post here. I think a system should there too.

yeah.. also only about 1 of 10 people who try steemit stays and first couple hours (days at max.) are crucial. Wall full of porn gives new user a very bad first impression...

Exactly, if someone doesn't already understand the platform it could definitely push them away. I hope in the future steemit staff takes a stronger look into this.

yeah but not too strong tho... we dont want censorship in steemit.

of course, not too strong at all. Just maybe some better filtering.

There are some excellent porn communities on reddit I don't see why it should be an issue here. Those communities post more than just links to videos on other porn sites, however. I agree that doing such is low effort and shouldn't be rewarded. Sub par articles should be the issue focus not just porn in general.

That being said the community itself will decide what content should earn rewards and gain visibility. Extra censorship, IMO, is counter to the philosophy of decentralization.

I have to agree with you here. My real issue is with the porn posts is the fact that it has no words or anything, its not a good post. I figure maybe these posts will get flagged or at least filtered in the future.

Indeed. In the future it'll be mostly a non- issue, as such posts will be drowned out by posts from other, more robust communities and topics.

I feel the same way, unless its an interesting post explaining the behind the scenes of porn or something like that.

I do like how the community doesn't seem to be encouraging it, those posts dont get many upvotes at all.

As someone who makes, sells, and puts a lot of effort into creating quality porn, I'm a tad offended at the idea that porn is not "quality content." On the contrary, considering the time, effort, and financial investment I put into creating my content, I'd say it's of the highest quality.

Porn has its place on Steem. Those of us that create it are finding those that consume it, and we're forming communities, like any other interest point or tag on this platform. Many of us will be involved in other communities as well (I'm getting into the photography & video communities for some of my non-adult related projects... as well as some of the music communities, as I'm also an an amateur composer,) and wil be contributing valuable content, both adult and non-adult, to this platform. I'm a fan of the "live and let live" philosophy of this platform, as well as of the technology in place to prevent those of you that do not wish to see my more adult work from seeing it.

Adult film makers are people too, and deserve to use this platform.
