I have been blogging on Steemit now for about four months, and I am beginning to work towards making my first purchase with the money I have made from blogging. SO EXCITED!
Cashout Strategy
Currently I am just around 500 SP, so when I power down I get around 40 Steem. However, every week I make about 40 SP. Thus, I am able to continuously cashout AND stay at a consistent SP level.
I take this 40 Steem and convert it to BTC and hold it in my Trezor wallet.
In my opinion, this is a good strategy because:
- BTC > USD
- I keep a respectable SP level (I maintain a $0.01 - $0.02 vote)
- I invest in BTC weekly, avoiding chasing dips and peaks
My Status
Here is my current status:
The Goal
My 2012 MacBook Air is beginning to lose its touch. Since I am a computer science major in college, this is NOT GOOD; my laptop is vital to completing my studies. Early last month my laptop began showing this warning:
Obviously not an issue when plugged into a power outlet, but I often work on the road, on a plane, and in classrooms where outlets are not available. Thus, I am hoping to save my crypto for:
Once you reach the point of converting your BTC to USD, you have a few options that you should consider to maximize it:
Use www.localbitcoins.com and sell them for cash face-to-face at a premium (like 10-20 percent above market value!).
Use www.purse.io to purchase your laptop through Amazon. You can set your own discount level and have someone purchase the laptop for you! You can use this to EASILY get 15% off of the market price of the laptop on Amazon, or you can set it at like 25% or so and wait a few days, sometimes much less.
Hope that gives you some ideas! Best of luck.
good ideas to save money. Would another idea be to use a bitcoin visa card? Save on fees when converting to fiat wouldnt you?
Those cards usually carry hefty fees, unfortunately. The ways I listed are ways to get more than market price for bitcoin :-).
ok thanks
Never heard of purse.io gonna have to check that out.
Any opinion on bitpay cards?
ITs crazy because i have been thinking the same way. I want to make my first purchase. I showed my family that its actually worth something. But like you wanting the laptop, i want a computer. I bought some stuff on amazon with my earnings today. It feels good. I hope to be able to do the same thing though where I make at least as much as I take out weekly.
My family still make fun of me and calls this all funny money. Can't wait to prove them wrong!
most of my family actually believed me when i explained how it converts but i still want to show the physical result
thats something man! really good to see you are funding future blogging with your bloggings, and gaining a super nice asset along the ride.
thanks a lot mate!
Good luck!!! Have the fattest upvote I've got!
Hope it helps, man! Keep up the positivity!
Thanks a lot man!!! Every vote helps :)
(unlike in USA elections)
Welcome! Have another one! MO' HELP!
Haha, very true. The election system here is a joke.
Thanks again!!!!
Is not much but you have my upvot . I hope to get it faster.
Thanks mate!
Have another one!
AND AGAIN!!!!!
I've got an old toshiba i'm working on. I get a similar warning. Not sure how the apple laptops work. Probably need a new battery like me. My desktop is in hiatus - hard drive is near death - fails as soon as it heats up. Good luck in your endeavor.
Wow sorry to hear that! Good luck to you too! Unfortunately I have a MacBook Air and the replacement battery is like $130. That is hard to justify for a 5 year old computer... especially one that has some nice wear and tear.
Aaaaaaaaand one more! It's cool seeing Steem(it) help good folks accomplish things that will help them.
Aaaaaaaannnddd Again :)
Wohohoho good for you!
Pleased to able to spread some pennies as well. Upvoted.
Thanks Mate!!
As long as you don't leave us after getting your new laptop :)
Of course I won't hahah
Actually hoping to use it to work on my side project SteemEngine!
One more wont hurt.
You're far too kind @matt-a
